What are your associations with the following 3 names?? - really struggling to decide!

Harper
Elizabeth
Harriet

Harper - Harper Lee & Victoria Beckham’s daughter Harper, also a young girl my ds is friends with. No other associations as it never seemed to be a really popular name in my area. I think it is a nice name though.

Elizabeth - I have so many associations that I don’t have any, if that makes sense. One of those names that isn’t particularly attached to anything.

Harriet - a lady I used to work with. Not very helpful but she’s the only Harriet I’ve ever met so it’s overwhelmingly associated with her to me! Also, this is a bit of a weird association that’s not really relevant but there was a character in the famous five books they meet called Harriet/Harry who George is jealous of. Reading them with ds now so that was my association! Also a very nice name!

Harper - Adams, 's&Queens, Beckham
Elizabeth - HRM
Harriet - Walter

GlitteryGreen · 09/03/2022 16:14

Harper - Harper Lee and Harper Seven Beckham.

Elizabeth - Not really so many as it's a well-used name - the Queen would be the main one for most I guess? It is for me. Also my own middle name :)

Harriet - No associations for me. Love this name but unfortunately too close to another family child's name for me to use it Sigh

MiniMoouse · 09/03/2022 16:16

Harper - Beckham
Elizabeth - The Queen
Harriet - no associations just think it’s a lovely name.

KylieCharlene · 09/03/2022 16:17

MissCarolina · 09/03/2022 17:10

Harper - Beckham
Elizabeth - The Queen
Harriet - No association

Synchrony · 09/03/2022 17:22

Harper - "don't harp on about it"
Elizabeth - Bennet
Harriet - the spy

Harper - my first thought is someone who keeps harping on a subject - a harper. That said it's not a terrible name.
Elizabeth - the Queen
Harriet - Harry ate

Titsflyingsouth · 09/03/2022 17:25

Harper - Beckham
Elizabeth - no strong associations. Classic
Harriet - feels fussy and frumpy to me.

Riverlee · 09/03/2022 17:26

Harper - Beckhams revived this name. Nice name

Elizabeth - classic name,

Harriet - traditional, gaining popularity in recent years after not being used much?

Mumofgirls2017 · 09/03/2022 21:34

Harper- Beckham
Elizabeth- Queen, but classic name
Harriet- bit chaotic somehow

Kanaloa · 09/03/2022 22:12

@littlemissgrumpi

Thank you everyone!

@Kanaloa I used to love the famous five books!!

I loved them too but after mentioning it to ds he informed me that it was Henry/Henrietta and not Harry! I don’t know how I mixed that up 😂 so maybe don’t choose Harriet in honour of the famous five.

I still think it’s a lovely name though. Actually either Harriet or Harper would sound nice with Elizabeth for a middle name.

MooseBreath · 09/03/2022 22:36

Harper: I have taught multiple Harpers (not in the UK) and unfortunately they weren't very nice. That said, I am open to it. Harper Lee is a great association.

Elizabeth: The Queen. Also, a girl I went to school with as a child. Some other children called her Lizard Breath. I really like the name though.

Harriet: Not keen on this name, but I taught the sweetest little girl called Harriet. Everyone called her Hattie.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/03/2022 22:42

Elizabeth - it’s a classic, not much else to say
Harriet - a bit Austin. Slightly nostalgic.
Harper - z list celebs. Don’t.

AuntieStella · 09/03/2022 23:06

Harper - sounds a bit shrill, plus I don't go a bundle in surname names even in boys - it's the surname of the family in My Family
Elizabeth - lovely, classic, timeless, regal
Harriet - still a bit posh, will probably play the cello

demoness · 12/03/2022 11:44

Harper - Harper Lee, David & Victoria Beckham's daughter
Elizabeth - The Queen, one of my school friends
Harriet - Harriet Tubman, the heroine of the book 'Swan Lake' by Eva Ibbotson which was my favourite book as a teenager

Snowbell99 · 12/03/2022 12:09

Harper - I know that the author of "How to Kill a Mockingbird" is named this but I first think trendy celebrity name and the Beckhams. Therefore it doesn't really give me the best image. I dislike it.

Elizabeth - Queen. British Royalty. I don't really like it.

Harriet - I like this. Classic but not so common. I don't think of anyone in particular. I would pick this.

ofwarren · 12/03/2022 12:23

Harper - Beckham
Elizabeth - My mum
Harriet- Harman

RavenclawsRoar · 12/03/2022 12:30

Harper- the Beckhams
Elizabeth - royalty
Harriet - a girl in my class at primary school Grin

My favourite is Elizabeth - it's a beautiful name.

Smorgasbordbaby · 12/03/2022 12:35

Harper - bit trendy and much as I admire Harper Lee I don't think I can dissociate it from the Beckham's.

Elizabeth - love it, the local variant of it was going to be 2nd son's name if he was a girl. Timeless and classic and has some great shortenings.

Harriet - my daughter's bff who is an absolute sweetheart with a heart of gold but also a chaotic bundle of energy.

Of your 3 I personally would choose Elizabeth.
