As names skip a generation I’m going for my parents generation - all now in their 70s, 70s and 90s - as names my children might think are chic and novel.

Charlie
Mary
Francis
Patrick
William
Gerald
Susan
Barbara
Josephine
Allan
Mary
Jean
Billy
Alexander
Robert

Sharon
Diane
Tracy
Nicola

I actually think Sharon is a beautiful sounding word. A shame about the Sharon and Tracy association.

Luredbyapomegranate · 08/03/2022 23:21

Yep. Some of those are already back or emerging

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/03/2022 23:34

Alexander and William have never gone away. Confused

demoness · 08/03/2022 23:45

I've met a lot of young Patricks, Williams and Alexanders. I don't think those names ever really went away (at least not in my community).

The 100 year rule... Look at names that were popular 100 years ago because they might be ready for a comeback. Admittedly this rule doesn't work all the time - Gertrude and Bertha show no signs of coming back. (If Sharon peaked in the 1970s, then theoretically it's not due for a comeback until 2070!)

Roger
Wayne
Dennis
Allan
Neil
Gary

I think Sharon is a beautiful name! 'Rose of Sharon'. I hope it gets another go-round. I can see:

Amanda
Fiona
Kim
Lynn
Lisa

Charlie has been popular for ages and ages! I’ve looked after tons of little Charlies. I’d say I’ve probably looked after more Charlies than Jacks which is saying something!

Maybe Pamela? I actually think Pamela is a beautiful name. Hope we’re not in for a load of baby Garys though.

harriet465 · 09/03/2022 11:23

Oh I love Francis let’s hope for a comeback

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 09/03/2022 11:27

Just goes to show different peoples perspectives.

Charlie, William, Alexander, billy, Robert have been around for a couple of decades. They will be naming/are naming their own dc about now.

RuthW · 09/03/2022 16:53

I think we are due lots of:
Eileen
Irene
Brenda
Barbara
Pamela
Patricia
Beryl
Judith
Derek
Alan
Anthony
Brian

EdithStourton · 09/03/2022 16:56

I'm waiting for the revival of Keith, Colin, Ina and other names that peaked in about 1930.

ISmellBurnings · 09/03/2022 16:57

Charlie has been massively popular for about ten years.

Barbara and Brenda are awful.

TheGratefulBread · 09/03/2022 17:22

Sharon sounds beautiful pronounced , as opposed to the English way of rhyming with Karen.

Titsflyingsouth · 09/03/2022 17:41

If we're going current baby-boom pensioner generation, then I'm going with

Angela
Christina
Elaine
Irene
June
Judy
Carol
Suzanne
Lynne
Ellen
Kathleen
Sandra
Barbara

Robert
John
Peter
Patrick
Frank
Kenneth
Douglas
Donald
Terrence/Terry
Dennis
Brian
Ray
