I'm due a baby boy this week hopefully! We have 4 names so far - Jordan, Zachary, Jude or my partner loves Zidane - which is your fave - if any ? Many thanks 😊

Zachary. I like Jude but it makes me think of Hardy's Jude the Obscure and his tale was so sad.

@fedoratheexplorer0

I absolutely love the name Jordan, I don't think it's outdated at all Confused.
Ahh someone who likes it too ! Thank you 😊

Jordan is a great name. If you love it and your dh likes it, I think you should go for it. It was popular in the 90s, same as Joshua ( I have nephews Jordan and Joshua in their 30s). We call our Jordan, Jude.
The positive to it being dated is there won't be tons of them ! I think it's due a comeback.
I don't like Jude as a full name. Zachary I'm not keen on, but I can see its appeal. It's a good name for a child, teenager and adult !
Zidane - I first thought of Zane. Might get confused with that name. It could grow on me though.
Good luck !

Jordan or Zachary (I guess he'd be called Zach most of the time?). Classrooms are going to be filled with Judes so I personally wouldn't choose this (it was on my list too but didn't go with it as I know so many now!)

@ladycarlotta

I prefer Jordan for a girl these days. It feels a bit stale for a boy - there were so many when I was at school in the 90s. But it's your baby and not an objectively horrible name!

Jude would be my choice.

I’ve never heard of Jordan for a girl apart from Katie Price’s glamour model nickname

Many of the Old Testament names have arabic equivalents, OP.

Adam, Yusuf, Ibrahim, Idriss, Sulamein, Zakariya etc

ISmellBurnings · 09/03/2022 16:56

Jordan is the name my friend chose for her baby back in the 90s when she got pregnant aged 16. That’s what it reminds me of. It’s dated.

I like Zachary and Jude.

Zidane just remains me of the footballer.

Jude or Zachary.

I have met some bad Jordans and so it doesn’t have good connotations for me.

estoybien · 09/03/2022 17:28

Zachary

Calandor · 09/03/2022 17:28

Jude is best but also like Zachary.

Never heard Zidane and dislike Jordan (makes me think of Katie Price or naughty boys).

Calandor · 09/03/2022 17:32

Zakariya could work too

lifestoooshort · 09/03/2022 18:00

Food for thought thank you 😊 think you've managed to put me off Jordan lol my partner will be pleased !
