Olive. See my user name for evidence of a downtrodden woman come good 🚌 🤓 🎟

Violet! Romantic and striking and reminds me of the intricate bends of the word “violin.” Also, fields of violets spring to mind!

Startling blue eyes or rich coloring should accompany the name Violet IMO 💙🪁💜

Olive is quirky, but not beautiful like Violet.

GiantSpider · 06/03/2022 08:04

Olive - love this.

AddictedToOlives · 06/03/2022 08:08

Definitely Violet. (Despite user name!)
And many older people will remember On the Buses Olive - not an attractive or likeable character
Although … Olivia is quite nice?

FlyingGeeseAgain · 06/03/2022 08:10

Violet

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 06/03/2022 08:11

Neither for me I'm afraid. An olive is a fruit and Violet sounds and looks like violent.

knittingaddict · 06/03/2022 08:20

@ihatesoaps

Neither They're both horrible
Oh dear, that was my reaction too. I think it must be my age.

Violet will always that awful child from Willy Wonkas chocolate factory and Olive will always be Popeye's girlfriend or a long dead maiden aunt. Weird how names come in and out of fashion.

TrooBloo · 06/03/2022 08:27

I prefer violet but if your accent means people don’t pronounce the t, don’t do it. I can’t stand that in names.

Purpleavocado · 06/03/2022 08:42

Good point about the t in Violet, definite glottal stop where I am and it doesn't sound that nice like that.
Olive sounds a bit too sensible glasses

MissCarolina · 06/03/2022 09:11

I like both, but slightly prefer Violet.

Lilaclavenders · 07/03/2022 15:12

Olive reminds me of an 🫒

Violet is ok but I dislike the short form Viol

helpmum2003 · 07/03/2022 15:15

Violet by a long way

organicoatmilk · 08/03/2022 17:13

Olive! Sounds nice and has a lovely meaning. Violet sounds like Violent or Vile to me.
