Help with boys names please!

I find girls names SO easy, I have a huge list that I would be happy using any of them.
Struggling massively with boys names, can you give me your opinions on my list below or any other suggestions I may like?
I’m fortunate to currently pregnant with DS number 2, DS1 has a name in the top 10 and I would like something a bit more unusual if possible for DS2 (although I know all my choices below are very mainstream- they’re the ones I have got DH to agree on and he likes more common names!)

Jude
Casper
Ellis
Evan
Toby
Xander (not keen on the nickname Alex so wouldn’t use Alexander)

Thanks Smile

I like Casper!

How about Quentin, Raphael or Magnus?

Luredbyapomegranate · 26/02/2022 22:15

I like Jude - don’t think it’s crazy popular? Xander is odd as a full name, Evan has had its day I think, and Ellis a bit faddy. Casper and Toby are OK - prefer Cassian and Tobias,

Other thoughts - Guy, Nathaniel, Joss, Elijah, Jerome, Gideon, Robert, Dominic, Patrick, Michael, Alistair, Giles, John, Jonathan, Joshua, Laurence, Lucian, Julius, Justin - all quite classic for your DP but not too popular right now

StrongerOrWeaker · 26/02/2022 22:16

I like Jude and Casper best

Polly271220 · 26/02/2022 22:16

Ellis

ElIie · 26/02/2022 22:20

I really like Jude. Very nice name and neither too common nor too “out there”

I also really like the name Alexander but understand if you don’t like Alex. My friend has a DS called Euan which I really like and is somewhat similar to some of your other names? Again, not too common.

Good luck with picking a name :)

Fivebeanchilli · 26/02/2022 22:20

I like them all but in order:
Xander
Jude
Caspar (I much prefer that spelling)
Toby
Evan
Ellis

How about:
Ewan
Jasper
Jago
Gus

StopForAMinute · 26/02/2022 22:43

They're all lovely names. My favourites are Toby, Ellis and Casper.

mumofEandE · 26/02/2022 22:50

I know what you mean - there are so many lovely names for girls!
We have a Euan but I did also think of:
Alec
Ned
Seth
Kip (pregnancy hormones?!)

Mumofgirls2017 · 27/02/2022 06:35

Casper is my favourite. Others

Jasper
Jesse
Ralph
Milo

Felix
Rowan

Hugo
Zachary
Joel
Kit
Otis
Dylan

Love Jude and Casper.. I know 2 Jude’s, don’t hear Casper too much where we are, it’s such a cool name.

Jasper?

Blubells · 27/02/2022 10:33

Jude is the German word for Jew. Pronounced Yoo-deh.

I don't think Jude travels so well internationally.

BeefSupreme · 27/02/2022 10:40

I like Xander.
Not that keen on any of the other names.

BeefSupreme · 27/02/2022 10:45

What about Lysander or Evander?

KirstenBlest · 27/02/2022 12:33

Jude - dislike
Casper - ok
Ellis - ok
Evan -ok
Toby - ok
Xander (not keen on the nickname Alex so wouldn’t use Alexander) - makes me think of fish

Toby or Evan are the best

PollysPockets · 28/02/2022 09:14

Thanks so much for all your feedback!
@BeefSupreme Funnily enough Lysander was/is my number one choice but can’t get it past DH who has vetoed it! Il bring it up again and see if he can be swayed lol

I also had Caspian and Griffin on my list but again DH has vetoed.
His top choices are Harrison and Albert, which are nice enough names but I can’t get onboard with for some reason.

Love Jude.

Other suggestions
Seth
Joel
Elliott
Lucas
Lewis
Tobias

GlitteryGreen · 28/02/2022 09:48

I really like Jude and Ellis from your list :)

I also really like Casper but I am of the age where it's still very much a ghost for me!

SallyCinnamon3009 · 28/02/2022 09:49

Cassius

bloominglovelyorange · 28/02/2022 12:51

I adore Ellis and Casper

Ellis has been falling in the charts too so is a good time to use it. I have never met one but it's my favourite name

KirstenBlest · 28/02/2022 13:44

@bloominglovelyorange, Ellis is fairly steady and not particularly falling.

It's not likely to be overused. It ia pretty popular in Wales, where it is often spelt Elis (L and LL are two distinct letters with different sounds). Elliott, Elliot and Eliot induvidually aren't particularly popular, but combined would be.

Generally, a name that is on a steep curve in either direction is likely to date badly

Trinacham · 28/02/2022 14:18

Jude - very popular, becoming too common for my liking
Casper - all I can think of is the friendly ghost
Ellis - like this
Evan - my 5 week old son's name, so enough said😍
Toby - I've always found this a bit of a meek name
Xander (not keen on the nickname Alex so wouldn’t use Alexander) - OK

gymgirl11 · 28/02/2022 15:34

Have you maybe thought about Grayson? It's different but without being too unique or wacky!

I'm with your DH and quite like "common" names so I don't think any I could suggest would be of help - but good luck! Smile

KirstenBlest · 28/02/2022 16:17

Grayson is awful

chloboe · 01/03/2022 14:22

I really like Jude!

DogsAndGin · 02/03/2022 19:14

Toby!
