Sibling for Theodore (Teddy)

We’re not finding out the sex so need boys and girls names. We have a son called Theodore who we call Teddy, but will probably be Ted when he’s older. So far we like:

Jaxon / Jackson
Seth
Reggie (but can’t have)

Sophia
Isabella / Isabelle / Isobel
Charlotte

But we’re not totally agreed on any yet.

Like Seth and Reggie but not sure they go with Theodore somehow? Although Reggie fits with Ted fine. All girls names are fine and go well.

How about

Sebastian
George
Henry
Harrison
Vincent
Charlie
Joshua
Oliver
Benjamin
Oscar
Caleb
Jude
Rowan

Penelope
Annabelle
Arabella
Beatrice
Florence
Matilda
Eliza
Evelyn
Emilia

I think you need something traditional to go with Theodore/Teddy.

Boys names I’d go for
Stanley
Vincent/Vinnie
Albert/Albie

Girls names:
Florence
Beatrice
Mabel
Matilda

Xx

If you call "Ted", "Seth" or "Reg" up the stairs, they will all sound the same. You need something with a different vowel sound.

We have a Theodore/Ted/Teddy and our unused boys names were Rory and Joseph. Our unused girls' names were Elizabeth and Josephine.

Isobel/Isabella/Isabelle are my favourites from your girls list. Isobel is my favourite.

I don't like any of your boys names, sorry.
What about Archie? Benjamin NN Benny? Or Charles NN Charlie?

Please don't call your son Jaxon. Sadly he will get a lot of judgement in life with that name in the UK.

Dolly
Kitty
Lego

I agree I like your girls names but the boys names don’t seem to ‘go’ if you see what I mean. You need something a bit more classic I’d say.

George
Henry
William
Benjamin

I nearly added Edward on to that list. But no Grin

Theodore is lovely, and Teddy a sweet nn.

I really like Seth.
But if I was Jackson (or worse Jaxon - don’t do that to him) or Reggie and my brother had an amazing name like Theodore I’d be seriously pissed off.

Nathaniel nn Nate, Tobias nn Toby, Gabriel nn Gabe, Christopher nn Kit, Nicholas nn Nico, Zachery/Zachariah nn Zach, Alexander nn Xander, Sacha or Sandy, Laurence nn Laurie, Robert nn Robbie or Robin, Francis nn Frank, Alistair, Silas, Rufus, Jude, Jerome, Patrick, Guy.

Your girls choices are lovely, but popular to the point of being overused - Dorothea nn Dora or Dorey, Alexandra nn Sasha, Christabel, Adela, Serena, Saskia, Cassia, Belinda, Francesca, Fernanda, Estella/Stella, Louisa, Frances, Constance, Esther are less popular alternatives

Seth is the only good one.

The girl names are ten-a-penny. Reggie is a gangster name and Jaxon is too American.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 27/02/2022 16:00

Jenson
Xander
Tobias
Arlo
Monty
Caleb

I like Jack & Isobel from your options, I shortened to Jack as I think style wise it fits better.

Theodore &

Wilbur (Will)
Thomas (Tom)
Albert (Albie or Bertie)
Bartholomew
Barnaby
Joseph
Robert
John/James

Winifred (Winnie)
Eleanor
Isadora
Florence
Josephine
Katherine
Lucinda
Caroline
Margaret

Thank you for the honest feedback!!! Jaxon is off the list! Seth and Reggie too, I think.

I really like Oscar, Harrison (Harry) and Thomas suggested above so I’ll suggest them to my husband later.

I like the idea of having a not-so-common name, but all the names I like all seem to appear in the top 20.
