Narrowed girls names down to Matilda or Eloise.
Which do you prefer? And Why? Both go nicely with surname.

Matilda . Love it. Scope for it to be shortened too. Won’t go out of fashion and is easy to spell, pronounce and sounds strong.

Well no, because it’s a faff to type - but people know how to pronounce it so I don’t think that matters, language and spelling evolves, etc.

But anything I’d go for Matilda OP, it’s a bit stronger to my ear, she won’t be one of 27 Ellies in her friendship group, and Tilda and Mattie are both nice nns if she wants them.

Eloise. Much more a name to grow up with.
Dislike Matilda intensely. Yet another name that's nice for a pretty young girl, not so much maybe for a frumpy forty year old, and detest the nn 'Tilly'.

Eloise is a bit of a mouthful and some will misspell it as Elouise, and it's yet another Ellie name.

Eloise. I like Matilda and Tilda as a nn, but really dislike Tilly. I wouldn't risk friends calling her Tilly.

If I had an Eloise, the nickname would be Elle, and with Matilda, Tilly.

You should consider what nicknames she may end up preferring as parents don't always get the say.

I knew an Olivia who went by Oli as her nickname throughout primary, but when she hit her teens she chose to go by Livy.

I really like Eloise but would be worried about it becoming Ellie, Ella or Elle which are a bit overdone so on that basis I'll vote Matilda

I've never liked Eloise but not for any particular reason. I just don't find it attractive.

Matilda because theres such a glut of El names. I think Tilda is a really cool nn for teenager or adult.

100% Matilda - I love all variations of it. Not a fan of Eloise I’m afraid.

My vote is Eloise! So pretty and can be shortened to Elle or Lo which I love.
