Sapphira. Gorgeous.

BlueFlavour · 23/02/2022 17:47

Agree with Sapphira. Lovely.

SallyWD · 23/02/2022 17:59

I absolutely love Indira. It's so beautiful and elegant. You can use the nickname Indie! I like Sapphira too but to me it's a bit more "flouncy" and I don't like flouncy names.

irishfarmer · 23/02/2022 18:22

I prefer Sapphira. I don't really know how to pronounce Indira.

StopForAMinute · 23/02/2022 18:49

I like Sapphira.

MrsBertBibby · 23/02/2022 18:51

Sapphira makes me think of cars. Sorry!

FlamingoDust · 23/02/2022 20:06

Sapphira

steelseries · 23/02/2022 20:07

I prefer Indira. (So much so that I have a DC with the name)! Pronounced inn-deer-ah

VeryLongBeeeeep · 23/02/2022 20:09

Sapphira immediately made me think of a Vauxhall Zafira, so on that basis I vote Indira.

olympicsrock · 23/02/2022 20:12

Indira is a lovely name , elegant and strong and a cute nickname in Indie

Gonnagetgoing · 23/02/2022 20:13

Indira

Rosenborg · 23/02/2022 20:50

How do you pronounce Sapphira?

Rosieposie101 · 24/02/2022 04:24

Indira if the baby has Indian heritage.

Sapphira was struck dead by God in the bible for being a liar. So not the nicest connotation.

urbanbuddha · 24/02/2022 05:04

Indira

MerryMarigold · 24/02/2022 05:14

@Rosieposie101

Indira if the baby has Indian heritage.

Sapphira was struck dead by God in the bible for being a liar. So not the nicest connotation.

I was about to say the same. Not so much the striking down but why she was struck down (for lying to lots of people in order to make herself look better).
Kanaloa · 24/02/2022 06:07

Hmm I’m a bit caught between. I prefer Sapphire to Sapphira really since I think Sapphira would be mistaken for Sapphire anyway.

Indira I think is beautiful, I really like it, but I wouldn’t use it with no Indian heritage. I think there are some names that bridge the gap and feel international and other names that I would think were odd or inappropriate on a white child with no Indian heritage. So if you are Indian I would say Indira for sure.

thanks everyone!

Indira.
I've never come across Sapphira and tbh thought it was a fancy made-up twist of Sapphire- and deemed it a bit down-market. I'm sorry!.

LittleBearPad · 24/02/2022 08:10

Sapphira sounds like it should have Vauxhall in front of it.

Indira’s ok

SemperIdem · 24/02/2022 12:17

I think Indira is lovely

NannyR · 24/02/2022 12:56

Indira. I agree that Sapphira sounds like a car and the biblical connotations aren't great.

Lemonweightloss · 24/02/2022 13:20

Love Indira.

Classica · 24/02/2022 13:20

Indira has a very elegant vibe.

Frightmare · 24/02/2022 14:50

Indira

demoness · 24/02/2022 19:32

I like Sapphira, though the Biblical connotation is not the nicest... But at the same time people use Delilah nowadays, so perhaps it's unlikely to be mentioned. (I also think a lot of people would say sa-feer-a rather than sa-fyre-a.)

Indira is lovely.
