hi everyone, thank you for all the responses and the compliments! i’ve picked out a few favourite’s but have managed to come up with issues for all of them 😂. arthur - really like this one but am not sure about having the same initial as alice, especially as she is the youngest so they will be listed as ‘maude, violet, alice and arthur.’ william - like this one but would there be too many l sounds - violet, alice and william? or am i too fussy? i feel the same way with miles oscar - love the name but was an ex boyfriend edmund - i think it sounds really nice with the girls but i think of the bratty one from narnia theodore - like this but everyone would shorten it thomas - again the nickname thing ernest - the nickname and the name of the cousin, also husband doesn’t like it i think my favourite is jude, but husband isn’t sure, also would it be weird that all of them but violet end in e, i know you can’t hear it but when they’re spelt out

i love maude too. i wasn’t going to use it as my mum said she disliked it and it would go out of fashion but i’ve always like old, flowery names. maude says she wishes she could shorten it and that it was more ‘pretty’. i think she thinks violet and alice sound more girly. i’ve had some people say it is too old fashioned and some odd reactions but everyone at her school says she suits it. she’s seven btw. her middle name is juliette.

I honestly don’t think there is an issue either with the ending in E - so many names end in E - or the L sound. I think that is overthinking it!

I also think Arthur is such a great name and goes so brilliantly with the girls’ names that it overrules the double initial - I know people often cite that as an objection but how often do we receive post nowadays let alone post to A. Surname?

If it helps, although Edmund wasn't a good boy in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, he totally redeemed himself and is one of the best (imo) later in the series!

Maude Juliette is so pretty! Honestly, if I was having any more children I would totally outsource their naming to you.

been talking with husband and he loves arthur so i think it will be likely we go with it, though i am still not sure about the double initial thing and am quite attached to jude.

any ideas for a middle name for arthur? the girls are:
maude juliette
violet francesca
alice rosalind
also there is no relevance to this but if i was to have another girl i would name her florence or constance. i also love the names bonnie and pippa but don’t feel they go with the girl’s names
