Good evening all,

I already have a son called Noah.
I am delighted to be expecting another baby.
After lots of health issues I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to have another baby.
I have picked Hugo Jacob is this baby is a boy - would be lovely to hear what you think of this name as well?
Its a girl I'm struggling with. Me and Noah have decided on Sofia for the first name. But I'm struggling with middle names. I have a few ideas, so would value your opinions as to which one you'd pick and why?

Sofia Lily-Rose (My favourite flowers so they have meaning to me)
Sofia Juliet (Juliet is just a name I really like)
Sofia Eloise (Eloise is a baby who I looked after in my job and I feel drawn to use the name, as a reminder of her)
Sofia Iris (Iris means rainbow and she will be my little rainbow after the storm I've been through)
Sofia Harper (Harper was the nice I like for a girl when I was expecting Noah, but not sure if its a little common/down market these days?)
Sofia Robyn (again another name I like and have personal links to the name and the bird).

I look forward to reading your posts. Thank you. Toni

Sofia iris is sweet

Flexitarian · 14/02/2022 21:20

Are you 100% on the Sofia spelling? Personally I prefer Sophia - to my mind it seems to sit better with your other name choices but it’s entirely a matter of preference.

I love Sophia Juliet. I think it’s beautiful and elegant.

Less keen on Sofia Lily-Rose. I think the double barreled middle name makes it a bit fussy. Sophia Lily or Sophia Rose is fine, even Sofia Lily Rose at a push.

I think I’m with you on Harper. Nice enough but a bit overused now.

Sofia Iris, pretty and significant to you. Not sure about all the vowels merging in the middle but it’s not a massive problem.

Sophia Robyn - again, nice. Love the vibe of this actually as they seem slightly different types of names. Sophia is pretty pretty where Robyn is a bit more androgynous. It’s a nice balance.

@Flexitarian That you for your detailed post. I actually have links to Spain, we have a holiday home there and plan to move there in the future. Sofia is the Spanish spelling, Hugo is also Spanish. So that has inspired our choice. So I will be keeping the Sofia spelling. Hope that explains it.

Sofia Iris

Luredbyapomegranate · 14/02/2022 22:47

Congratulations.

They are all quite nice other than Lily-Rose (too too much) and Harper (a weird combo).

I think I like Sofia Robin best - it reminds me of Christopher Robin a bit, and is the freshest sounding I’d probably go for the straightforward Robin spelling, especially as you have an unusual spelling of Sophia.

Otherwise Iris.

Eloise and Juliet are both fine, but maybe a bit fussy in combination with Sophia.

Kitkat151 · 14/02/2022 23:13

Sofia is a bit ugly I always think....Sophia is much prettier

blameitonthecaffeine · 14/02/2022 23:20

I love Sofia Juliet - beautiful and classy.

I like all your options really though. Love the personal meaning behind Sofia Iris and think Sofia Eloise sounds lovely too.

Those would be my top three, in that order.

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2022 23:22

Sofia with either Juliet or Eloise would be my choice.

Happinessisthekeytosuccess · 15/02/2022 09:02

Thank you.
Think I've narrowed down to Sofia Eloise, Sofia Juliet or Sofia Iris.
Anyone else?

Sophia Iris sounds very pretty

Midnightstar76 · 15/02/2022 09:51

Sofia is my DD’s name and I spell it this way as we have an Italian line in our family and it is spelt this way. I love the way this name is spelt. My DD’s name is Sofia Rose so I like your choice of Sofia Lily-Rose.

Midnightstar76 · 15/02/2022 09:53

Just seen your later post OP yes I would go for Sofia Eloise out of the three you have narrowed down to

irishfarmer · 15/02/2022 10:23

Sofia is beautiful. I am bias, but I will be choosing Iris as a middle name if I have a girl after 3 rainbow babies. I think Sofia Iris goes well together.

I also really like Hugo Jacob too.

Thank you. Think I've narrowed down to Sofia Eloise, Sofia Juliet or Sofia Iris. Anyone else?
Of those three I prefer Juliet. For me a consonant sound works better after Sofia. Eloise and Iris smush into Sofia too much. Juliet is also a more interesting name.
OffToButtonM00n · 15/02/2022 10:44

Sofia Juliet (then she could be nn SJ as a different option) or Sofia Lily for me. I really like the soft flowing sounds in the latter, it sounds very pretty. Agree with pp about the middle name starting with a consonant.

StopForAMinute · 15/02/2022 11:22

I love Sofia. Sofia Juliet sounds lovely.

FayCarew · 17/02/2022 13:56

Sofia Eloise, Sofia Juliet or Sofia Iris.

Sofia Eloise doesn't flow very well. The other two are fine

Sofia Iris

The other two are two fussy (combined with Sofia)

Jmaho · 17/02/2022 14:13

I have a Sophia and a Noah and love both names
I like Juliet as a middle name as its a name I really love too but husband wasn't keen

Cbeebiesrehab · 18/02/2022 16:30

Will you pronounce it Soph-E-uh or Soph-Fy-uh?

I think Sofia Iris is beautiful.

Dreamingof3 · 18/02/2022 19:06

Sofia Eloise ❤

DogsAndGin · 02/03/2022 19:35

Eloise

I think all three are very pretty. If I had to choose one I think I would go with Sofia Eloise.
