I heard this name today at my dd's baby group. It's kind of cool yet strong, or what do you think? Might go on my list for a possible future ds.

Pelaton or Plato not in the running?

BunnyRuddington · 12/02/2022 11:01

My first thought was Plankton. Amoeba has a nice ring to it as well...

NuffSaidSam · 12/02/2022 11:02

I also thought plankton.

Absolutely dreadful.

PinkPlantCase · 12/02/2022 11:03

Isn’t it a name from that Netflix drama the politician? I think.

If I’m honest I don’t think it really sounds like a name

user1493494961 · 12/02/2022 11:04

Awful.

LuckyWithMyLot · 12/02/2022 11:05

Makes me think of Platano (a banana...)

SirChenjins · 12/02/2022 11:06

No - unless you dislike your future ds.

Casheeeew · 12/02/2022 11:06

It is a boys or girls name or either? I looks like theres letters missing, it just doesn't look like a complete name.

Patton is a legit name if that's any better?

VirginiaQ · 12/02/2022 11:06

I came on to say plankton too. Awful.

Casheeeew · 12/02/2022 11:07

Or Clayton? Not to my taste but similar

Sexnotgender · 12/02/2022 11:07

My first thought too.

Are you sure it wasn’t Peyton? Also a dreadful name but marginally better.

AdaColeman · 12/02/2022 11:07

How is it pronounced, is the N silent? What about a nn, would you use Platty or Tonto? So many questions….

DietrichandDiMaggio · 12/02/2022 11:09

Sounds like something from a sci-fi film - maybe a planet.

Dogsandbabies · 12/02/2022 11:21

Platon is the Greek name for Plato. I absolutely love it but chickened out calling my son Platon in the UK.

Fl0w3ry · 12/02/2022 11:35

Awful. Sounds like something to do with science rather than a name to me.

TatianaBis · 12/02/2022 11:38

It’s fine if you’re Greek but a bit odd otherwise.

Leeloo1233 · 12/02/2022 11:42

Haha clearly I'm the only one who likes it! And also now cannot unsee the plankton thing 🤣

Leeloo1233 · 12/02/2022 11:44

Yeah it was definitely Platon, I saw it written down

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 12/02/2022 11:48

Bloody hell

No

gingerhills · 12/02/2022 11:52

Well I like it. Written down it looks like plankton but won't sound like it. It's quite...stately.

Wallabyone · 12/02/2022 12:00

It's Greek, like Plato. Sounds much nicer said in Greek-and is a shortening for Platonas. The a is like an 'U' sound.

miltonj · 12/02/2022 12:00

Erm...

MK19590 · 12/02/2022 12:02

Is it pronounced Play-ton or Platton??

Spikeyball · 12/02/2022 12:04

Plankton

TatianaBis · 12/02/2022 12:55

@MK19590

Is it pronounced Play-ton or Platton??
Neither

In Greek it's Platon
In Russia it's Platon

Pla = halfway between platter and RP plus.
