Deciding on a middle name for baby.
First name Flora. Surname is one syllable. Some options...

Flora Marian
Flora Field
Flora Dulcie
Flora Illyria

Flora Marian is probably has the best ring to it but doesn't sound a miles unlike Flora Margarine.
I've never heard of Field as first name. Its got quite a nice sound. I'd just assume Field was one of your surnames though.
Flora Dulcie Flora Darcie or Dolcie is nicer
I can't make out what the last one says sorry. Although it does look like a pretty name.

Further suggestions
Flora Elizabeth
Flora Grace
Flora Jasmine
Flora Willow
Flora Jane
Flora Beth
Flora Jo
Flora Delphine

Flora Field sounds like floor or field? Flora already risks the '' spreads easy 'gafs. Not Flora spreads easy in a field ffs...

emmathedilemma · 07/02/2022 12:44

Please not Flora Field, she'll sound like a meadow!!

DoodleBelle · 07/02/2022 18:05

Strongly dislike Field. Flora is a lovely name I think Marian sounds best with it but prefer the spelling Marianne.

FayCarew · 07/02/2022 18:44

Marian is the best of a bad bunch

Illyria is where Twelfth Night is set so suggest Viola, Olivia or Maria instead

collieresponder88 · 07/02/2022 20:48

None of the flow right

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/02/2022 21:04

I don’t think any of them are great, but deffo not field (it ups the faint cow associations of the otherwise lovely Flora)

Flora Marianne is better than Marion, but still sounds a bit too much like Margarine. Dulcie is faddy, Illyria just a bit.. much

Flora Rosanna
Flora Antonia
Flora Viola (if the WS ref was deliberate as pp says)
Flora Verity
Flora Jasmine
Flora Beatrice
Flora Katharine

Flora needs a fairly classic pairing to work I think

Ikeameatballs · 07/02/2022 21:13

I don’t dislike Flora but I don’t think any of these choices for middle name work. Flora Marion or Flora Marianne both draw the mind to margarine!

Flora Frances if you were looking for alliteration?
Flora Jean or Flora Jane
Flora Charlotte
Flora Lucy
Flora Caroline
Flora Harriet
Flora Catherine
Flora Velvet
Flora Jasmine
Flora Jade
Flora Delphine

elfran · 07/02/2022 21:18

I think you need a 3-syllable name (or even 4) beginning with a consonant and not ending in "a" for maximum flow-age. As PP suggested, Marianne, Verity, Rosanna, Katherine all good.

Other ideas:
Flora Lillian
Flora Calliope
Flora Madeleine
Flora Josephine

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/02/2022 21:59

Flora Dulcie out of your options. However I’d go for

Flora Melody
Flora Willow
Flora Juno
Flora Cleo
Flora Penelope
Flora Juliet
Flora Clementine
Flora Pearl
Flora Daphne
Flora Lillian

WeasilyPleased · 07/02/2022 22:43

Flora Jasmine as suggested by pp is lovely.

Illyria17 · 07/02/2022 22:52

Thanks everyone! They are all family names as we like to keep middle names linked to ancestors hence the limited options. Hard to choose!

Difficult to follow Flora with a name that begins with a vowel.

Chichimcgee · 09/02/2022 11:37

I think Flora is beautiful but one of those names that can sound like Floor A -middle name which makes it tricky.
My children have grandparents names and another middle name could you do that?
Flora Something Illyria etc

bloominglovelyorange · 09/02/2022 15:20

Not field but others nice

Illyria17 · 11/02/2022 04:10

I like this idea @chichimcgee
Maybe something like Flora Poppy Marian

Thoughts on:

Flora Marian (Surname)
Flora Louise Marian (Surname)
Flora Louise Field (Surname)
