Hiya, I'm currently thinking of a name both male and female. For a boy a like Alcides, I know not at all common. Or something like Roy which I've always like you know Roy boy they rhyme. For a girl I like Lila its won't be as common but is still equally as nice as Lily.

I like Alcides a lot actually - is it a family name?

Roy just makes me think of the 1950s (in a bad way)

Lila is pretty common and blurs with the 6 billion Lily/Laila/Lola/Lena/Lyra/Leah/Laras about, so if that bothers you at all, I’d think of something else.

It's another name for Hercules. Perfectly OK. But - to follow a typical MN line of questioning - will it bother you if people don't always pronounce it the way you like? For example, it's Al-kye-dees in English-language versions of ancient Greek myths; something likeAl-see-dis/Al-see-dehs in Spanish.
Perhaps a Greek-speaking Mumsnetter can help with modern Greek pronouciation?

Roy rhymes with boy yes, but I don't thinknthat should be a deciding factor. I quite like the name Arlo fo a boy and Delphi for a girl along your Greek theme.
