I love this classical name and it is now on our short list, but nicknames are important to my husband and we struggle to find any that come naturally.

Aud sounds a bit like odd Grin. Any suggestions?

Aude is French for "dawn" and is a name in its own right. (I have a friend with that name.) It could be cute and cool as a nickname for Audrey.

Though I generally agree that you can't predetermine nicknames. They just happen!

I think Audrey would naturally become Auds, which is very cute

The only Audrey I know is called BeanieBobs by her family.

Maybe just reassure your husband that nicknames evolve even if names aren’t easily shortened? We also have a “nicknamey” family and my sister Ann has at least 15 nicknames, despite having the shortest possible name.

Addie?

I love Audrey, it's a great name. I also get where you DH is coming from, as my extended family is a big one for nicknames/diminutives as a way of showing affection, and if I didn't come up with one first, I know they'd beat me to it.
