Amarilli or Leela?

Undecided between these 2 names. Amarilli is the Italian version for Amarillys (part of our family).

We just like the sound of Leela, but we have no specific connections with the origin of this name.

Amarilli would be shortened as Lilli.

Any thought? Which one do you like more / or like less and why? as Im aware they are not popular names in the Uk.

I quite like Leela! My friends had an aunt called this so definitely works on a child and an adult. It has a familiar feel to the currently popular Laila/Lola/Lily/Lucy type names, but that little bit more refreshing.

To me, Leela is nicer.

Amarilli is much too frilly (sorry!)

Not Amarilli. I really dislike the plant and it makes me think of “Show me the way to Amarillo…”

Leela is really nice and fresh sounding.

Amaryllis is the plant ( rather than Amarillys) so unless there was a reason why, the more conventional spelling might be better

I spelled it wrong in English. It is as you said, but in Italian is Amarilli

Do you pronouce this as Leela? I read it can have a double pronounciation. I like the spelling as lo g as it is pronounced Leela and not Layla or Leyla
