"cool" girls names

I don't think there are cool names. It's the person who then makes the name cool by association.

The 'cool' names are the ones picked by people often (unknowingly) influenced by trends on Instagram etc. Margot, Ottilie, Ivy, Freya, Mabel etc all spring to mind.

They are also the names that will be the future Barbaras- names that spiked in popularity out of nowhere then become deeply dated and unfashionable again.

The darker greener website is a good indication of which names it will happen to - any huge spikes mean they're currently 'cool' but will be deeply uncool within a generation's time.

I think the coolest names are ones that are slightly jarring, but are carried off well. Do mad inline/androgynous names, frumpy/old-fashioned names and very unusual names.Shorter names also seem more cool. So Winifred called Fred would be cool, as would Joan, Hero, Xen, Maude, Jude, Nyx and Liv. Also Barbara.

Interesting to see Saskia mentioned a couple of times. I work with one who is very cool and very nice.

Love Sloane from FBDO, so cool and beautiful and carries the name well. Never met a real-life sloane though!

You are going to go either one of two ways - either be really straightlaced or live up to the expectation of the name.

I'm not sure why you would do that as a parent!
