Naomi? Do you like it or not? Thinking grace as a middle name so would be Naomi grace.

Other name we like is Fern xx

Very pretty. Not so keen on fern

BaronessBomburst · 29/01/2022 19:16

I love Naomi. It's a beautiful name.

GizmoIsSoFluffy · 29/01/2022 19:17

Love it, just be careful when it is spelt backwards 😁

Cottagepieandpeas · 29/01/2022 19:19

Naomi is beautiful. I prefer it when the ‘o’ isn’t emphasised.

I can’t think how to write it! Not naOmi.

kitkatsky · 29/01/2022 19:19

I prefer Fern, but not with Grace as a middle name. Fern needs a multi syllable middle name x

Never even noticed this before! 😅

Naomi Grace is lovely.

Emelene · 29/01/2022 19:22

Naomi Grace is really very beautiful!
I think it depends if the nyomi/ nayomi pronounciations would bother you as I’ve heard it said both ways.

mimos4 · 29/01/2022 19:22

What's Naomi spelt backwards? Imoan? What's that?

OttilieKnackered · 29/01/2022 19:24

A relative of mine has this exact name. It’s lovely. She is 40 though!

DappledThings · 29/01/2022 19:35

@mimos4

What's Naomi spelt backwards? Imoan? What's that?
I was thinking I'm Oan and wasn't sure who Oan is. I don't get it.
PartySuziPlease · 29/01/2022 19:36

It could be read as 'I moan'

I like it but people will pronounce it incorrectly. Will this bother you?

I know it used to annoy my friend when people called her Niomi with an I sound instead of an A.

tiredanddangerous · 29/01/2022 19:49

The nay-omi vs n-eye-omi thing would put me off. Everyone will pronounce it differently.

EileenGC · 29/01/2022 19:52

I love the name. Would pronounce it nah-oh-mee unless instructed otherwise, but I’m not from an English-speaking country.

SE13Mummy · 29/01/2022 20:01

Naomi Grace is lovely. I know one with that exact combination although she's not a baby, the other Naomis I know are in their 40s. The different pronunciation isn't an issue for any of them; one is a Nay-oh-me, another is Nay-uh-me.

Ceramide · 29/01/2022 20:47

Naomi is a lovely name and not currently overused.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 29/01/2022 20:54

It's lovely. Has a bit more to it than Fern.

teezletangler · 29/01/2022 20:57

The nay-omi vs n-eye-omi thing would put me off. Everyone will pronounce it differently.

I think the difference is quite subtle though. Wouldn't be enough to put me off. It's a beautiful name.

mathioso · 30/01/2022 07:41

My DD is Naomi. Every time it getsasked about on here people overdo the whole pronunciation thing.

The vast majority of people pronounce it Nay-OH-me, while a few pronounce it NAY-oh-me. I don't like the latter but all my friends and family – and all her friends – know how we pronounce it. So it's a rare occurrence for us to hear it pronounced wrongly more than a one-off here and there.

And luckily I'm not highly-strung enough to get mad about that.

Roselilly36 · 30/01/2022 07:49

I really like both of your name choices, Naomi is lovely, but not easy to spell or pronounce for some, but a gorgeous name. I love Fern too, lovely, timeless name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/01/2022 09:34

It’s OK

The one I know says her name is often said NY-OH-me (as opposed to NAY-oh-me) which annoys her.

It’s less popular than Fern though, maybe Naomi Fern? As Grace is so overused as a middle name.

RuthW · 30/01/2022 10:39

I'm not keen on any name which can be said two ways.

Do you want
Nayomi or nyomi

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/01/2022 10:43

Lovely name. My daughter had a classmate of that name who was delightful and still is, so that biases me towards it! She pronounces it NAYohmee, ie three syllables, stress on the first one.

Goes well with Grace. Good luck!

Lemonweightloss · 30/01/2022 10:44

It's a lovely name. Classic. I like Fern, too.
