Just Joss as full name for a boy? What are your thoughts? Sounds ace with our surname so really like it.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Choux · 29/01/2022 10:53

I like it. I used to know someone French named Jocelyn nn Joss.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jocelyn

Kitkat151 · 29/01/2022 11:13

I know a 2 year old girl called Joss

lollipoprainbow · 29/01/2022 11:17

My nephew is joss he's 30! It's a lovely name I think but then I'm biased !

Crowdfundingforcake · 29/01/2022 11:35

Like it as a nickname - the only one I know is Jocelyn.

Would go with Josiah, Joseph, Jocelyn, Joshua, Jason, John, Jonathan, Jonas.

jano69 · 29/01/2022 11:36

What a great name! Joss Stone comes to mind....

Fivebeanchilli · 29/01/2022 11:36

I like it. I know one who's about 10.
I personally like it as a nn for Josiah but I think it's ok as a stand-alone too.

Zazdar · 29/01/2022 11:40

Sounds ace with our surname so really like it.

As long as your surname isn’t “Stick”.

Happenchance · 29/01/2022 11:45

I like it.

StopForAMinute · 29/01/2022 11:51

I think it's a great name.

Bluemamma · 29/01/2022 12:29

Never heard of it before but I like it

Classica · 29/01/2022 12:45

I think it's nice. As long as I don't think of that absolute arse Joss Whedon.

Kittymum7 · 29/01/2022 14:14

I know a girl named Josslyn (a different spelling of Jocelyn) and she goes by Joss.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 29/01/2022 14:37

I don’t like it by itself. I like it short for Joseph.

SoupDragon · 29/01/2022 14:40

I think of it more as a girl's name.

elfran · 29/01/2022 14:45

I love it OP, it's my current fave for any future sons. I dislike it for a girl though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The only issue I have is the now-tainted association with Joss Whedon.

Sweetpea84 · 29/01/2022 14:49

I have a son called Joss does get called Josh a lot which can be annoying.

user1493494961 · 29/01/2022 16:10

I know a Joss, short for Josiah. I see it more as a boy's name.

Luredbyapomegranate · 30/01/2022 10:11

Love it

Josiah could be a full name? Have a feeling Jocelyn is taking off as a girls’ name.

RuthW · 30/01/2022 10:37

No, too girly.

SecretaryOfNagriculture · 30/01/2022 17:50

There was a boy called Joss in my class. He was a bit of a twat so I'm not keen on the name.
I like that it's unusual and rare though.

ElliotGoss · 30/01/2022 19:33

I love it but our daughter is called Jess so we couldnt use it.

FelicityPike · 30/01/2022 19:36

I like it for a girl.
But I have heard it used for boys too.

ahcmonnow · 30/01/2022 19:46

Hopefully your second name is not Stick.

It's quirky though, I like it.
