Which names out of the following do you feel is a best sister name to Rosalie (nn Rose)

-Eliana (nn Lana)
-Elodie (nn Ella)

Are Rosalie and Elodie too similar or are they a cute match, I’m torn so I need an outside opinion. Thanks!

I prefer Elodie for sure but Eliana sounds better ‘with Rosalie’. However, I think Rosalie and Elodie would be acceptable together, I don’t think you’d say their names together that often particular if they get shortened?

I think Rosalie and Elodie sound a bit too similar, to be honest. You’d call out for one of them and the other would answer!

RuthW · 27/01/2022 15:41

Eliana is lovely

SE13Mummy · 27/01/2022 15:49

Although you've got your preferred shortenings, either of the El names could become Ellie in the future. If Rosalie opts for Ali once she's older, you'll have Ali and Ellie. Do you have any less 'l-ee' names on your shortlist?

StopForAMinute · 27/01/2022 15:50

I prefer Eliana. Lovely name.

Rollonspring1111 · 27/01/2022 16:57

I love Rosalie.
I prefer Elodie, but as you say it is similar sounding. Some people like that in siblings though. Just personal preference.
For that reason I think Eliana would work better.

Rosalie (lovely name!) and Elodie are too similar

Rosalie and Eliana are bordering on too similar because of the alie/elie sound - is there anything you like that's less similar to Rosalie?

FlamingoDust · 28/01/2022 10:54

Love Eliana, if you have to shorten Liana is nicer to my ear

merryhouse · 28/01/2022 10:59

Well, when I saw the title I thought "hmm.... Melody" so make of that what you will Grin

(please note: I am in my 50s)

I think Rosalie and Elodie are a bit matchy-matchy with the rhyming, but Elodie is a nice name and they won't usually be referred to as a pair, so I wouldn't let that put you off the name if you like it.

Not sure if you are considering other options but I think Annabel goes nicely with Rosalie.

TedsaidFred · 28/01/2022 18:33

I feel like Rosalie and Eliana is a bit of a mouthful to say, due to the alie... Elia... But as pp said, how often will be be saying their names as a pair... Perhaps fairly often when they are little but they have their whole adult lives as individuals.

Ceramide · 28/01/2022 21:23

Elodie is nice. I'd also suggest Eleanor or Emily.

inheritancetrack · 29/01/2022 09:50

You wouldn't really say R.. and E.. together anyway, you would say 'the girls' so choose a name you love best.

FlamingRoses · 29/01/2022 10:07

Elodie.

Remember they’re separate people, their names don’t have to ‘go’.
