It’s a lingerie brand so no

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 26/01/2022 23:54

La Perla lingerie...

stickygotstuck · 26/01/2022 23:56

Any reason not to use Pearl instead?

TrashyPanda · 26/01/2022 23:57

Bras.

RightOnTheEdge · 26/01/2022 23:57

Makes me think of underwear.

whatausername · 26/01/2022 23:59

Sexy knickers and date night. Might be different connotations in places other than the UK.

DropYourSword · 27/01/2022 00:00

Sounds like knickers (la perla) or knitting (knit one, purl one)

Gigi97 · 27/01/2022 00:01

We live in Italy 🇮🇹

a Polish beer

Ceramide · 27/01/2022 00:05

La Perla is an Italian brand so presumably it's associated with underwear there too

LastChristmasIGaveYouMyHeart · 27/01/2022 00:08

Makes me think of funfair rides (zamperla) but I don't hate it.

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/01/2022 01:16

No, it’s a brand of knickers so sounds like a stripper name.

Just call her Pearl.

urbanbuddha · 27/01/2022 01:48

Pearl - much nicer and unusual in Italy.

Lemonweightloss · 27/01/2022 01:50

Like every one here, La Perla was the first thing I thought of but....Perla.....I like it. I like the way an Italian would pronounce it. Si, mi piace molto ! ( I miss travel 😢).

Twinkleylight · 27/01/2022 03:16

No, it's not an actual name as its the brand name for lingerie. She'll be called La Perla all her life and asked what cup size she is. You can use Pearl, which is a beautifully underused name, but not Perla.

Twinkleylight · 27/01/2022 03:19

OK I've just read you're in Italy so that changes it a bit. Do many people call their daughters Perla?

stickygotstuck · 27/01/2022 10:10

I was going to ask the same. If it's usual in Italy, go for it. I do understand that Pearl may be awkward to pronounce for Italians and you don't want her having to spell it constantly.

But even if not usual there, if you like it, go for it. Perla will be your daughter and anyone she comes into contact with will just accept that. In Italy, in the UK or anywhere else, really.

oncemoreunto · 27/01/2022 12:46

La Perla is an international underwear brand, I really wouldn't name my dd the same name.

Bluemamma · 27/01/2022 13:47

For a stripper yes…
For someone’s daughter- god no.
Pearl if you must
But as someone else here said pearl necklace …🙈🙈 could end up being bullied but maybe not so much in Italy.

Kitkat151 · 27/01/2022 14:12

It’s awful
Pearl is ok ( ish)

AuntieStella · 27/01/2022 14:21

The brand is Italian, isn't it? And an international, well known one

I think it's a name that would be hard to live with

Geamhradh · 27/01/2022 17:36

As you live in Italy you'll know it's very very old fashioned and tends to be mocked. I have only ever known one Perla (named after deceased grandmother) and she hates her name.

GrendelsGrandma · 27/01/2022 17:41

Is that how they spell Paula in Liverpool?

Olga03 · 28/01/2022 21:23

I'm originally from mainland Europe (not Italy) and it makes me think of the underwear brand as well - sorry.
