Love Anna but can't use. What do you think of Anya?

That's my daughter's name 🙂
Not too common, and not too out there/ pretentious, and pretty universal if she goes abroad.
It suits her, she's a sassy, funny, sporty 9 year old

I know one woman called Anya, who calls herself Anna. According to her people are having problems getting her actual name right.

I like it, I only know one but she spells it Aanya

Anya Seton is one of my favourite authors. I have always liked the name.

Anya is very pretty imo - feels slightly exotic, yet simple and not too unusual iykwim?

I do still much prefer Anna as it just feels more classic - but I can't use Anna myself either (but am wondering if I had a DD whether I could get away with Anna on the BC but always call her Anya as a pet name/nn to avoid confusion with the other Anna -the way they do in some Eastern European/Slavic countries).

I also think Anya is sometimes used as a nn for Antonia or Anastasia too if you like either of those?

Thank you for the positive messages. I do favour Anna in some ways but like that Anya is so different.

Can't use due to an older family member being called Anna. She also has the same surname as baby will. So we don't want to use it.
