Ok Baby Names??!!

So over the holiday period, my sister and I were debating acceptable baby names. We couldn't agree on any one name, apart from both disliking Shannon! So I just wanted to hop online to gauge the opinion of my fellow women on the following names (these are some of my favourites):
Stella
Jenny
Damien
Leslie (for a boy)
Rosemary
Marina
Callie
Stephanie
Zelda

Opinions welcome!

Jenny is nice. Is it your baby or your sister's?

Jolene1990 · 18/01/2022 14:14

Rosemary is too old woman.... Out with the old in with the new! Smile

campion · 18/01/2022 14:16

Rosemary (can then be Rosie, Rose)
Marina
Stephanie

Jenny at least needs Jennifer as full name

Not keen on the others, especially Leslie. Not due for a revival imo.

For a future baby of mine 🤣. Just discussing with my sister

Cally or Jenny

Fl0w3ry · 18/01/2022 16:44

I also think Callie or Jenny. The others I don’t like.

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 18/01/2022 16:50

Stella don't like it even though the one I know is lovely
Jenny not sure. I love it. Then I hate it Confused
Damien no
Leslie (for a boy) love it. I know an absolutely wonderful Leslie. He's in his 90s and I really should make an effort to visit him
Rosemary a bit like Jenny for me. Can't decide if I love it or not.
Marina not a fan
Callie no. I've only ever met one and she was a bitch.
Stephanie meh.
Zelda not sure.

Otoh I love Shannon.

SummaLuvin · 18/01/2022 17:41

I really like Marina, but the rest...they don't exactly rock my world, but they are fine, there isn't anything wrong with them, they are acceptable, it's just personal taste - I find them dated and bland.

Unless you have a very unusual situation you and your sister don't need to agree on a name with each other.

Winterfellismyhome · 18/01/2022 17:42

Only like Callie

Riverlee · 18/01/2022 18:03

Stella - okay-ish
Jenny - nn for Jennifer
Damien - evil film connection, plus Only fools, although name is ok
Leslie (for a boy) - no
Rosemary - lovely
Marina - ok
Callie - ok, sounds like nn?
Stephanie - ok
Zelda - no

LakeShoreD · 18/01/2022 18:05

Leslie NOPE
I don’t personally like Damian

The rest are all fine but my favourites are Rosemary and Marina.

Mumofgirls2017 · 18/01/2022 21:57

I like Stella, Callie abs Zelda

Fivebeanchilli · 18/01/2022 22:01

Stella - I love this. I know people mention the beer but I just think of the star meaning. The Stella I know really lives up to her name
Jenny - I'm not keen. Feels very 70s. Prefer Genevieve
Damien - don't like at all
Leslie (for a boy) - don't like at all
Rosemary - it's ok. I would just worry it would become yet another Rosie
Marina - don't liked it. Just makes me think of a harbour
Callie - I like this as a nickname but prefer Calista or Calliope as a full name
Stephanie - not keen
Zelda - not keen

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 19/01/2022 01:34

Adore Marina - classy, elegant and international with loads of nn options and very underused here in the UK.

Of your other choices I quite like pretty Stella (but prefer Estella) - although I can see it rising in popularity as it fits with the retro/vintage style, short 2 syllable name trend for girls (Ella, Ada, Elsie, Ivy, Nancy, Mabel.... )

Callie is a lovely nn for Calista, Charlotte, Caroline etc but not my taste really as a given name.

And Stephanie I can see making a comeback sooner rather than later, as it has a nice sound plus Stevie is a very cool nn on a girl.

Your other choices aren't my cup of tea - especially the boys, sorry!

irishfarmer · 19/01/2022 16:21

Stella - I say it in a Cilla Black accent when I say it in my head, god knows why!
Jenny - I like it, it's pretty. But would go for Jennifer nn Jenny
Damien - No just don't like it
Leslie (for a boy) - I think of Les Battersby from corry
Rosemary - I like this
Marina - No, it just makes no sense to me.
Callie - I really like it. Maybe Calliope
Stephanie - I like this one too
Zelda - No

Stormbraver99 · 19/01/2022 16:49

Stella - I don't like, but maybe due to the only one I've ever met being a really grumpy old woman.
Jenny - My name. For what it's worth I love Jenny, but can't stand it when people use my full name - Jennifer. Maybe that's just my hang up.
Damien - I can't take to it.
Leslie - Might be OK for a boy, but wouldn't be my personal choice.
Rosemary - I love this, along with all the Rose names - Rosanna, Rosalie, Rosabella etc.
Marina - Pretty.
Callie - I like this.
Stephanie - Neutral on this one.
Zelda - not for me.
