Marion is the only one if your girl names I like, sorry. For boys Samuel is my favourite but I also like Brody

StellaOlivetti · 16/01/2022 18:45

Oliver, Charles or Nico but I don’t think I’d be brave enough for Nico.

Mary, Rachel, Marina

Lovely!

ShadowPuppets · 16/01/2022 18:48

Che (pronounced shae) - not for me - makes me think Che Guevara!
Nico - I think of this as a girls name, Nicos more male?
Oliver - ok, very popular but I like it. Wouldn’t use as I wanted to avoid top 10
Brody - surnames as last names aren’t for me, so no
Samuel - like it
Raffi (Rafael) - really like it
Charles - it’s ok

For girls:
Martine/Marine/Marina - I really like Marina, Martine feels very 80s for me, Marine doesn’t feel like a name
Mary - fine, classic but not my taste
Marylou - country singer, no
Marion - mum’s generation, very dated!
Paris - Hilton, so not a fan
Rachel - like it, quite classic
Frankie - nickname for Frances IMO

It’s a really eclectic bunch of names and not in a bad way! I really like some and not others Smile

BunnyRuddington · 16/01/2022 18:54

Che (pronounced shae). Ok. I know a Shay who is lovely.
Nico - ok
Oliver - far too popular for me. DD had 5 in her class in Primary.
Brody - not my taste but ok.
Samuel - love
Raffi (Rafael) Love Rafael and Ralph.
Charles - ok.

For girls:
Martine/Marine/Marina bit too 60s for me.
Mary - don't like.
Marylou - awful. Sounds like a C&W singer.
Marion - ok
Paris - Paris Hilton has ruined it for me.
Rachel - ok
Frankie - will this be short for something or is that a full name? Can't really imagine a menopausal woman introducing herself as Frankie.

6464zz · 16/01/2022 18:55

Riverlee · 16/01/2022 18:57

My favs are Samuel and Rachel. Good luck deciding x

MoominMeggy · 16/01/2022 19:22

Che (pronounced shae) - just think of Che Guevara, so feels a bit cringey
Nico - reminds me of the female singer
Oliver - fine, bit dull
Brody - not my cup of tea, but fine
Samuel - fine, bit dull
Raffi (Rafael) - quite like, I know one who goes by Raffa, which I prefer
Charles - noooo, though Charlie is nice, but popular

Martine - awful
Marina - quite like, bit horsey, but fine
Mary - dull
Marylou - country singer
Marion - middle aged
Paris - awful
Rachel - dull, hard sounding, 80s
Frankie - ok

Leeloo1233 · 16/01/2022 19:33

Martine/Marine/Marina - all nice and quite international
Mary - very vintage, soft and beautiful. Maybe a bit religious but recognised all around the world which makes her life easier!
Marylou - gorgeous and becoming really popular in French speaking countries. I know a beautiful little Belgian Marylou.
Marion - beautiful but strong. Marion Cotillard!
Paris - not a huge fan..
Rachel - not a huge fan since it was so popular in the 70's/ 80's, plus now I think it's also quite religious (jewish?)
Frankie - such a cool girl name, like it a lot. Also Grace and Frankie 😍

Marimaur · 16/01/2022 22:08

Che (pronounced shae) - Guevara?
Nico - Not so keen
Oliver - No
Brody - No
Samuel - ok
Raffi (Rafael) - ok
Charles - nice

For girls:
Martine/Marine/Marina - no
Mary - no
Marylou - no
Marion - yes
Paris - no
Rachel - no
Frankie - no

DramaAlpaca · 16/01/2022 22:13

What a mix of styles!

I don't mind Nico, Oliver, Marina, Mary and Rachel. Nico would need to be short for Nicholas/Nicolas.

I don't much like the rest.

Synchrony · 16/01/2022 23:13

Che (pronounced shae) - not keen
Nico - ok
Oliver - overused
Brody - No
Samuel - nice
Raffi (Rafael) - nice
Charles - nice

For girls:
Martine/Marine/Marina - nice
Mary - nice
Marylou - American
Marion - love
Paris - Hilton or a boy
Rachel - love
Frankie - ok but only if short for something like Francesca.

Flutterflybutterby · 17/01/2022 11:46

Mary and Raphael 😍

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/01/2022 23:40

Che (pronounced shae) - no, deeply teenage
Nico - great if short for Nicholas, my favourite
Oliver - nice, very popular
Brody - no - name for a dog
Samuel - lovely, classic
Raffi (Rafael) - nice
Charles - nice but a lot of Charlies around

For girls:
Martine/Marine/Marina - Marina lovely, the others sound like barmaids from the 80s
Mary - a classic
Marylou - don’t be ridiculous
Marion - ok but dull, Marianne or Maryam both nicer
Paris - NO. It’s a stripper name.
Rachel - nice classic
Frankie - great if short for Frances or a Francesca

emberplum · 19/01/2022 23:51

Oliver or Samuel for a boy.
Mary or at a push Frankie for a girl. Prefer Francesca with nn Frankie.

Kokeshi123 · 20/01/2022 01:55

Che (pronounced shae) - OMG no. Sounds like something a really daft student would name a kid. Che Guevara was a horrible man.
Nico - OK
Oliver - OK (but boring)
Brody - Awful. American and not in a good way. And it sounds like broody.
Samuel - I like this best. Can't go wrong with this one and it's not overused.
Raffi (Rafael) - OK but only if Raffi is not on the BC
Charles - OK (bit boring)

For girls:
Martine/Marine/Marina - Not Marine. Marina and Martine are nice.
Mary - Great name
Marylou - Too twee. Reminds me of the soppy girl in Malory Towers--really don't like "combo" names
Marion - I like this a lot.
Paris - Really tacky. Think again.
Rachel - Classic name, though maybe a little dull to me as I knew so many growing up.
Frankie - As a NN Frances or a Francesca it's OK. A bit tacky as a given name.

I would go for Samuel for a boy, and either Mary or Marion for a girl. Have you thought about Marilyn? I've always thought it was lovely and maybe it came back into use.
