I had a customer today called Festus- he was late 20's. I've never come across this name, and initially read foetus! Does anyone know a Festus in real life?

IsadoraQuagmire · 15/01/2022 22:11

Yes. At least I've got a toy bull named Festus, I've had him since I was about 6, and I remember naming him.

Cma1988 · 15/01/2022 22:12

Used to work with a Festus - he’d be about in his 50s

Smokeahontas · 15/01/2022 22:12

This sounds like a bad dose of an STI

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 15/01/2022 22:13

Makes me think of Uncle Fester

Mamamamasaurus · 15/01/2022 22:13

Sounds like something that happens to you right before a body part falls off

TheYearOfSmallThings · 15/01/2022 22:14

My GP is a Festus. He's the only one I've met, and I think it's a very nice name - festive and jolly.

memberofsomebadclubs · 15/01/2022 22:15

Name of former president or PM of Botswana (can't remember his last name but the first name stuck!)

HelebethH · 15/01/2022 22:16

I have only heard of Festus the Dragon

Bettybantz · 15/01/2022 22:16

You can just imagine his nieces and nephews shouting him: Uncle Festus!!

Stevie6 · 15/01/2022 22:17

I also read that as foetus 😬

Ca55andraMortmain · 15/01/2022 22:18

@memberofsomebadclubs it was Festus Mogae - only Festus I've really heard of either!

Whydoesthecatalwaysdothat · 15/01/2022 22:18

No!

Makes me think of Uncle Fester too!

Chardlettuce · 15/01/2022 22:22

Yes, but he was born in another country, continent even.

Weredone · 15/01/2022 22:23

I also read that as foetus !

girafferafferaffe · 15/01/2022 22:27

KloppsTeeth · 16/01/2022 01:36

Festus- patron saint of Festivus for the rest of us?

ArnoldBee · 16/01/2022 01:40

It's from a poem by Philip James Bailey if I remember correctly. Was very famous in its day.
