What middle name would you pair with this girl's name?

Does it have to be biblical @Flutterflybutterby?

LublinToDublin · 15/01/2022 09:48

How is Selah pronounced?

Gooders1105 · 15/01/2022 09:48

Think you need a monosyllabic name to follow eg. Rose or Jane or Faye

Flutterflybutterby · 15/01/2022 09:49

@BunnyRuddington

Does it have to be biblical *@Flutterflybutterby*?
No, not necessarily Smile although would be nice (but not essential) to have some religious connection!

Selah Elizabeth
Selah Imogen
Selah Florence
Selah Madeleine
Selah Constance
Selah Tabitha

I think a longer middle name sounds much better. I think one not ending in an -a sound is better - so Selah Jemima sounds a bit much but Selah Tabitha is not quite as bad.

BunnyRuddington · 15/01/2022 10:19

How about Elisha, which I think means the salvation of God?

Ceramide · 15/01/2022 10:41

Which syllable is the stress on?

Fivemoreminutes1 · 15/01/2022 10:54

Selah Naomi
Selah Rae
Selah Jasmine
Selah Marianne
Selah Rachel
Selah Miriam
Selah Ruth
Selah Yasmin

MrsWooster · 15/01/2022 10:57

Something starting with a short hard Kuh sound -Katie, Caroline - as the first name has long, soft sounds (assuming it’s pronounced a bit like cellar or sailor).

BunnyRuddington · 15/01/2022 11:06

Selah Yasmin oh I really like that pairing Smile

Andtheyalllookjustthesame · 15/01/2022 11:09

Selah Naomi
Selah Ruth
Selah Grace
Selah Hope
Selah Patience
Selah Faith
Selah Constance
Selah Eden
Selah Rose
Selah Pearl

Adventing · 15/01/2022 11:15

Selah Abigail
Selah Catherine
Selah Josephine
Selah Elizabeth
Selah Rachel

@ineedsun Why is that funny? I don't know the pronunciation either. I've never come across this name before. Assuming biblical from previous comments.
It could be See-la or Shu-la, or something else!

Because there is another thread discussing how its pronounced.

I think the general opinion was cellar - as in below stairs.

inappropriateraspberry · 15/01/2022 23:37

Well I haven't seen that thread. Don't assume.

Opinion4321 · 15/01/2022 23:41

I didn’t know how it was pronounced either. I presumed like ‘seller’. If that’s the case, I’d avoid a middle name that sounds anything like ‘brate’.

Seleh Grave is lovely.

Opinion4321 · 15/01/2022 23:41

Grace not grave! Sorry terrible autocorrect!

Aerielview · 15/01/2022 23:54

Selah Jane
Selah Rose

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 16/01/2022 00:47

Selah Rebecca? I’m not sure of the biblical spelling sorry

2YearsOfWastedTime · 16/01/2022 00:50

There was another huge thread about this yesterday
Maybe the OP could link and it would explain how to pronounce it

Flutterflybutterby · 16/01/2022 01:36

Hello! The word is pronounced 'See-luh' but as a name it's commonly pronounced 'Say-luh'. We like both and haven't decided on the pronunciation we'd use yet Smile

OP posts:
Flutterflybutterby · 16/01/2022 01:41

I prefer Say-lur, slightly, I think, but am worried people might think I named my child 'Sailor' which is very cool and modern and so not at all me Grin
