Opinions please, we’re really struggling. Haven’t found out the gender, which I think is adding to the problem.

Main contenders for boy:
Freddie - my favourite
Spencer - we both like but not love
Arthur - DH favourite

Also liking Orlando and Julian!?!? No idea why. DH thinks I’m mad.

Main contenders for girl:
India - my favourite but something is stopping me
Matilda / Delilah - DH loves these. They’re just a bit girly and frilly for me. I also hate the nn Tilly which I assume naturally would happen at some point. It makes me think of a cat.

We both like Imogen, Nina and Rosa too.

Freddie was a strong contender in my boys list. So this is my favourite.

Rosa is beautiful

Freddie and Nina

Arthur and Imogen

Lovely!

PearPickingPorky · 13/01/2022 21:07

Frederick Aurthur Surname (he won't be a little boy forever)

and

Imogen Delilah Surname or Imogen Rosa Surname. Or the other way about, but not two names which both end in 'a' as it doesn't sound right.

Yika · 13/01/2022 21:18

Nice names, I think Orlando and Julian are both great, as is Spencer.

What about Maria(h) or Dinah for a girl?

AyeEee123 · 13/01/2022 21:20

I love Orlando and Spencer for a boy, really don’t like Freddie.
Delilah is lovely too.

LavenderRosemary · 13/01/2022 21:39

Love Freddie. Love Nina and Rosa too.

SummaLuvin · 13/01/2022 21:40

Arthur and India from your original list.

Julian and Rosa if I included the other options.

I like Freddy and Spencer for girls but not really boys. And I prefer Artur to Arthur.

Firebird83 · 13/01/2022 21:48

Arthur and Nina or Rosa

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/01/2022 22:41

I like all of your girls picks apart from Delilah which is too trendy for me. Fave is probably India as I love the sound but Imogen, Nina and Rosa are all lovely, elegant choices too (and I don't dislike Matilda - but there just seems to be a lot of them about).

Less keen on most of your boys choices as I tend to like more classic names especially for boys - so I like Frederick but not Freddie as a given name (and like I Arthur too but that is super popular now). But weirdly one of my "classic style name" exceptions is Orlando - I personally adore it's romantic, classy, Shakespearean feel but it is a fairly marmite choice, so possibly a bit brave!

Mum2Be36 · 13/01/2022 23:01

Arthur and Nina are my favourites

Thedogscollar · 13/01/2022 23:05

Definitely Freddie and Rosa.

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/01/2022 23:07

Favourites - Julius and Imogen

I love Arthur and like Freddie (if short for Alfred or Frederick) but they are really overused. Spencer Is ok. I like Julius better than Julian, and it’s more now. Orlando it sounds like you won’t be able to get past your DP

Ernest, Cassian, Lucian, might be others

Honestly unless you have Indian heritage I don’t think you can use India - it’s very colonial.

Imogen is nice. I find Nina a bit nothing and Rosa and it’s variations are very overused. I agree Delilah is a bit sappy, I don’t think Matilda is though - if you use Tilda or Mattie as a nn - but it is overused.

Other thoughts - Adela, Claudia, Oona, Stella, Iona,

Mumofgirls2017 · 14/01/2022 12:27

All nice names.

I like all your boys names except Julian which I find a bit dated, favourite would be Freddie if short for Frederick

For girls I love Delilah and Matilda best, if you’re ok with Delilah getting shortened to Lilah (I love it). If you don’t like Tilly you could have Mattie or Tilda or possibly Mila or Mia at a bit of a stretch!

I quite like Nina and Rosa but not quite as much.

Justcantdeal · 14/01/2022 12:36

I prefer Frederick over Freddie.

Girls names not my taste.

emmathedilemma · 14/01/2022 16:09

Arthur and Nina

EgbertNoBac0n · 15/01/2022 08:42

Matilda is not frilly to me at all - it means ‘battle mighty’.

cptartapp · 15/01/2022 08:57

I like Rosa. None of the others.
Nothing ending in ie.
