Boredinthehouse12 · 10/01/2022 10:27

Hello, I’m just looking for opinions on names for a baby girl. Which one do you prefer, or thinks flows best?? Each name has significance so we don’t really want to drop any.

Suggestions welcome.

Ava-Rose Adanah McGovern
Ava Adanah-Rose McGovern
Ava Rose Adanah McGovern

Thanks!

The 3rd one, with no hyphens.
No one outside of family (and even then only close family) knows/ cares about middle names aside from paperwork.

Lollipoppit · 10/01/2022 10:29

None flow flawlessly, the third one breaks up the A's and flows the best.

WhoppingBigBackside · 10/01/2022 11:56

Rose is a filler middle name and many other Avas will be Ava Rose
Hyphens tend to be naff

I really don't like Ava

Boredinthehouse12 · 10/01/2022 12:02

Thanks for your input @Lollipoppit @FelicityPike

Rose was her grandmothers name, so define not just a filler. I’m not sure about the hyphen either. We still have a few months until she’s here so will see which one feels right @WhoppingBigBackside

Number 2 but without the hyphen

HPLikecraft · 10/01/2022 12:09

Third one. Hyphens are fussy.

MrsBertBibby · 10/01/2022 12:11

Third. Definitely no hyphens.

DefyingSanity · 10/01/2022 12:11

4th option - Ava Adanah Rose McGovern.

Although the initials will be AARM. Hate hyphens and think the sequence of the names flow better this way.

MeredithGreyishblue · 10/01/2022 12:13

She'll be Ava McGovern 99.9% of the time (unless Ava-Rose in which case she'll be Ava other than to you once she starts school!)

Honestly, choose whichever you like. It won't name much practical difference to her.

PigeonPigPie · 10/01/2022 12:22

Adanah Rose McGovern? Flows nicely and won't get lost in a sea of one hundred Avas

DotDotDotDotDot · 10/01/2022 13:27

Option 2 but without the hyphen. What’s the point of hyphens really?

FelicityPike · 10/01/2022 13:29

That’s very true.
LavenderRosemary · 10/01/2022 13:33

I think the third option flows best.

EishetChayil · 10/01/2022 15:01

Adana Rose McGovern.

There are enough Avas now.

Cas112 · 10/01/2022 15:02

Number two! Flows best

toastofthetown · 10/01/2022 15:03

I think the third one flows best. I would bother with punctuation. It’s just adding minor administrative inconvenience for no real benefit.

Boredinthehouse12 · 10/01/2022 16:30

Thanks all, you’ve definitely helped us narrow it down as well as given us another option. Much appreciated

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/01/2022 21:01

Well you need to consider Do you want her to be just Ava-Rose or Ava when she goes to school, because the a hypen will make all the difference.
My personal preference is Ava Adanah Rose

DramaAlpaca · 10/01/2022 23:30

The last one. Drop all hyphens.

TedsaidFred · 11/01/2022 04:47

Ava Adanah Rose (no hyphen) flows the best for me. Middle names are so rarely used I don't think it's any problem giving her two. I spent a looooong time pondering the right middle name for my son and am somewhat disappointed that basically since his birth announcement its never seen the light of day! (obviously I could choose to call him by both names all the time but that's not practical in reality).

TrashyPanda · 11/01/2022 10:33

Ava and Adana really don’t go together
Too similar and staccato
I’d go for Adanah Rose

Ceramide · 11/01/2022 13:43

Ava Rose Adanah McGovern

WeasilyPleased · 11/01/2022 23:07

I've never come across Adanah before. How do you pronounce it and where's it from? Very pretty.

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/01/2022 23:11

Ava Rose Adanah McGovern

No to hyphens, always
