Confession time: i really like name Lisa. I mostly like sound of it, and also love Louise and Lucia.
Is it usable or too dated?

I think it’s lovely

SummaLuvin · 09/01/2022 16:15

I think it is somewhat dated, feels 1970's to me, but that doesn't make it unusable. The amount I care about things like 'dating' is inversely proportional to how much I love a name.

RedCandyApple · 09/01/2022 16:15

I love the name Lisa, I didn’t realise how dated it was considered till I read it on here

BettyfromBristol · 09/01/2022 16:16

I like Lisa, but marginally prefer Louise. Not so keen on Lucia.

I think many 60s and 70s names are due a revival.

DramaAlpaca · 09/01/2022 16:17

I think it's very useable. I also love Louise, prefer it to themore popular Louisa.

PinkSyCo · 09/01/2022 16:19

It is dated but it is very pretty. I think we should bring it back. Smile

ApplePippa · 09/01/2022 16:21

Nothing wrong with Lisa in my opinion.

I remember reading a thread on here a few years ago, which declared Lisa to be "bland". Posters then went on to suggest names like Isla (an anagram of Lisa) and Elsa instead.

I couldn't get my head around why people thought one name was bland, but very similar names weren't! I think people follow fashions more than they care to admit...

toastofthetown · 09/01/2022 16:24

It's a dated name, but that doesn't mean that it's a bad one. Lisa is still in low use at the moment (41 born in 2020 in England and Wales).

CousinLucy · 09/01/2022 16:27

I like it.

MajorCarolDanvers · 09/01/2022 16:29

Its a lovely name

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/01/2022 16:35

Too dated, it’s a mum name heading to granny name. It’ll come back in 20 years.

The other two are fine. Louise was popular at the same time but because it’s got a long history in the UK it feels classic.

MumOf21 · 09/01/2022 16:40

I used it for DDs middle name, although with the alternative spelling using an E.

Roselilly36 · 09/01/2022 16:42

60’s name for me. I wouldn’t chose it.

PattyPan · 09/01/2022 16:53

I don’t think it’s too dated, but I do think it’s a very boring name.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 09/01/2022 16:58

I know quite a posh couple and they have a 10 year old Lisa. I was a bit surprised when I first met her, but it's a pretty name. Certainly useable.

SnowyPetals · 09/01/2022 16:58

I think it's dated but not old enough to make a comeback yet. How about Annalisa with Lisa as nickname? That way your child could also choose Anna as a short form later.

eggandonion · 09/01/2022 16:58

Laoise, pronounced Lee Sha is an Irish name, but you wont be allowed to use it because people will tell you nobody can spell it!

cptartapp · 09/01/2022 17:01

Lots of friends called Lisa. I'm 50.
Louisa is much nicer.

Lacedwithgrace · 09/01/2022 17:08

Louise is a timeless name imo. I know a few Louises of different ages from 20 to 70 and they all suit their name.

lazylockdowner · 09/01/2022 17:14

I don't like Lisa and think it is very dated but I really like the name Louise (my daughter middle name) I also really like Luisa I only know 1 and she is 42 but think it is a really lovely name

TopTabby · 09/01/2022 17:14

My best friend from school is Lisa, I think it's a really nice name. We're 50s though so it does have a 1970s ring to it. Louise hasn't dated as much.

Georgeskitchen · 09/01/2022 17:15

Lisa is nice. You might start a revival of the name!! Elise is also nice and I like Louisa, rather than Louise, the 'A' on the end gives it more character, I think 😍

RedCandyApple · 09/01/2022 17:21

I don’t like Louise at all

Pamlar · 09/01/2022 17:49

I like it. Also like Elise which is less dated.
Not keen at all on Louise. But love Lucia

derekthe1adyhamster · 09/01/2022 17:51

I love Lisa - definitely due a revival
