Hello, I'm pregnant with a little girl, I already have a DS called Dylan trying to find a name that will go with it. We like Liusaidh (pronounced Lucy) but just wanted some other ideas to decide from.

Do you live where people will actually know that spelling =Lucy?

Dylan is Welsh.
Liusaidh is Scottish Gaelic.

Perfectly OK if one of you is Welsh and the other is Scottish, but otherwise it's odd. Just a bit pick and mix from various non-English- language but UK cultures....

Your baby, your name, of course...

Well just spell it Lucy to save her a lifetime of annoyance when people haven’t a clue how to say her name.

I know a Dylan and Katie sibset.

Pumpkinstace · 04/01/2022 17:05

I know a
Dylan and Eleri
Dylan and Cadi
Dylan and Nia

I live in Wales and Dylan is very popular here.

Eowyn, Gwyneth, Gillian

Avarua · 04/01/2022 17:23

Just call her Lucy

CaffiSaliMali · 04/01/2022 19:27

Have you picked Dylan as it's Welsh and do you use the Welsh pronunciation? (Dull-anne rather than Dill-un).

If so, I've heard of people using Lwsi as a Cymrified version of Lucy.

If you wanted another Welsh name then:
Mali
Nia
Ffion
Mari
Nansi
Alys
Efa
Cadi
Eira
Megan
Tesni
Eleri

I think all of those would go nicely with Dylan.

I read it as Lucy with no problem and no pause. Seems fine.

Would go well w Dylan

NotTheOriginalFeargalSharkey · 05/01/2022 20:54

I think I have seen Lucy spelt lluci?
But I do like the pp lwsi.
Megan
Behan
Mali

KirstenBlest · 06/01/2022 09:44

Lwsi is awful.

It's a welsh spelling of Lucy, but there's a Welsh form of Lucy, Lleucu

Lluci and Luci etc will be a PITA because of the spelling. I know a Luci and people often think it is pronounced Lootchy

KirstenBlest · 06/01/2022 10:02

Lwsi would need a circumflex to get the Lucy sound

Lŵsi.

Luredbyapomegranate · 07/01/2022 00:22

Why would you not just spell it Lucy?? That’s going to be a complete pain for her.,

Otherwise
Ffion
Stella
Esther
Catrin
Elizabeth nn Lizbie, Libby, Lizzie
Robin
Astra
Aster
Cleo
Juno
Nancy, or Anna nn Nancy
Polly (or Marianne nn Polly)
Louisa nn Lou

Grin

Dylan means 'son of the sea' and Seren means 'star' in my mother tongue.

Luckingfovely · 07/01/2022 00:39

Astra is a great fit with Dylan!

Luckingfovely · 07/01/2022 00:40

(And please don't call a child whatever that mess of letters you first wrote was - she'll spend her entire life correcting it and hating you for it!).

KirstenBlest · 07/01/2022 08:23

You are showing your ignorance @Luckingfovely. What you are referring to as a mess of letters is a gaelic name.

KirstenBlest · 07/01/2022 08:27

Polly (or Marianne nn Polly) - Just Why??

Consumer nn Connie - Constance is nicer than Consumer

Ceramide · 07/01/2022 08:40
