Hi, DD due next week and we still can’t decide on a name. Please give your opinions and any other suggestions. Baby will be mixed English and Indian but we aren’t bothered about having an Indian or English name specifically. We want something easy to read and pronounce, strong but also feminine. Shortlist:

Saskia
Lana
Anya
Raya
Inari
Anokhi
Sienna
Harper

Raya

IggyAce · 02/01/2022 21:46

Raya or Anya

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 02/01/2022 22:14

Saskia, Anya and Lana are all lovely. I'd possibly be tempted most by Anya since it is so well known in many different countries, but not overused.

RussianSpy101 · 02/01/2022 22:18

I know a little girl called Reyah (raya) from a mixed English & Indian family and I always thought it really suited her.

DotDotDotDotDot · 02/01/2022 22:19

I like Saskia and Anya from your list.
I’d spell Lana as Lanah to avoid the backwards spelling problem.
Harper and Sienna are my least favourites, they just seem like a different style to the others.
I’ve never heard of Inari before but I like it.
Maybe Nina as a suggestion?

Pinkginlover · 02/01/2022 22:23

Lana or Anya

cherrytopcake · 02/01/2022 22:27

Anya is great

user1493494961 · 02/01/2022 22:34

Not Harper.

DoodleBelle · 02/01/2022 22:36

Saskia

Bestkindaparty · 02/01/2022 22:41

Love Harper

ladygindiva · 02/01/2022 22:44

I like most of your list, I LOVE Saskia, Anya, Raya. Can I ask how Anoukhi is pronounced, I don't know it at all but I like the look of it written down!

ladygindiva · 02/01/2022 22:44

Sorry Anokhi

Fretfulmum · 02/01/2022 22:54

Thanks everyone. Some clear favourites! DH loves Saskia but he changes his mind regularly!

@ladygindiva I would pronounce it An-oh-key

I love all except Harper! I especially like Saskia, Lana and Inari. Have you considered Inaya?

SoonbeSpringtime · 02/01/2022 23:31

Anya is far and away my favourite.

hugocat · 02/01/2022 23:47

Anya, definitely. There was a popular olive skinned teenage model in the 90s called Anya Lahiri I think

Luredbyapomegranate · 03/01/2022 00:16

Saskia is lovely - really stands out

Serena might also be nice

whatausername · 03/01/2022 04:18

Harper doesn't feel very feminine and Inari doesn't sound strong so I'd knock those off the list, personally.

Mumofgirls2017 · 03/01/2022 07:59

They’re all nice. I like Raya, Anya and Sienna best

RussianSpy101 · 03/01/2022 11:23

Anohki sounds too much like anarchy for me.

MoominMeggy · 03/01/2022 13:31

Saskia - dislike, too frilly
Lana - anal backwards
Anya - nice
Raya - ok
Inari - ok
Anokhi - not sure, pronunciation issues
Sienna - bit dated?
Harper - noooo, awful name

How about -

Nina
Serena
Seren
Meera
Ines
Sabrina
Leila
Nora / Norah
Anoushka
Lilah

Anokhi is a brand-name of Indian-made fair-trade clothing www.chandnichowk.co.uk/Site_pages_Fair_trade/FashionPages_Fair_Trade/Jackets_Kimonos_Dresses_Pages_Fair_Trade/Sleeveless_dress_printed_cotton.html , and - if Google is to be believed, also a brand of handbags, and the name of several beauty salons.

Saskia, Raya (or Rayah) and Anya all very nice.

LozMarieFielder · 03/01/2022 17:15

I like all with the exception of Harper but especially love Lana and Raya.

Suggestions:
Opal
Asha
Isha

Jada
Nova
Lavender
Hallie

PlainJane1000 · 03/01/2022 18:10

I think Saskia, Anya or Raya are beautiful. I'd happily have any if these names! I think Saskia can be a bit tricky with some surnames so that would be a consideration for me.
