Harriett?

Is this spelling a thing?

DD2 is called Harriet. I know there are alternative spellings such as Harriette, Harriot (older English), and I have seen Harryette too, which I believe is African American.

But when we registered DD birth, registrar automatically spelt it Harriett. She changed when we corrected of course but seemed to think her spelling was standard and ours yoonique unusual.

That is bonkers, right?

I’m not sure about the etymology of the spelling Harriett. I just wanted to say I think your daughters name is adorable Smile

It’s Harriet. Stick to your guns - it’s a lovely name

I’ve met a couple of Harrietts before but it’s definitely usually Harriet. Congratulations!

You would think they would employ people who can spell as registrars.
