Ermmmm I'm not one for putting names into classes but I'd probably say lower-middle lol and ye sits religious but not overwhelmingly so.
It's a nice name

PizzasPlease · 24/12/2021 12:02

The two young Reubens that go to my dc's school both have Mum's that really aren't posh but who would like others to think they are (clad in designer labels). A little pretentious.

Jurassicparkinajug · 24/12/2021 12:03

Definitely middle class

TrueGrit54 · 24/12/2021 12:03

I just think of the artist, my kids art teacher called their son Reuben so that doubles up on the art connection. It’s a tad flowery for me but if you like it ..

RavenclawsRoar · 24/12/2021 12:03

Normal. I know lots of them.

Orreries · 24/12/2021 12:06

I think of a sandwich with salt beef and sauerkraut.

SummaLuvin · 24/12/2021 12:06

Normal to me. It's become common enough that any connotations it may have had with middle/upper class have been watered down.

RuthW · 24/12/2021 12:10

Just a normal name and definitely not posh.

GoodnightGrandma · 24/12/2021 12:11

I like Ruben. It was on my list.

SleepingStandingUp · 24/12/2021 12:11

It's lovely, I might assume a little MC but that's neither a good nor a bad thing.

Missmonkeypenny · 24/12/2021 12:20

I have one of those Smile He goes by Reu for short and is 2 next week.
I'd say we're middle class. Not religious. Don't know any others within social circle, DC1s school or DC2s nursery.

KirstenBlest · 24/12/2021 12:23

Boring and wet-sounding.
Yet another R name.
Not posh

TenThousandSpoons · 24/12/2021 12:37

Normal. Could be posh, could be working class.
Nice name Smile

LuckyMum3 · 24/12/2021 12:38

Thanks all,
I'd never heard of the sandwich until Mumsnet.. is it an American sandwich?

Love the nn Rue/Roo so our girls name choice is also similar with that we have a little Roo

Fairly mainstream name so I wouldn't make any assumptions about background

Bible origins but not overtly religious

GemmaRuby · 24/12/2021 12:42

Very middle class, very mumsnet

DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 24/12/2021 12:46

It’s just a fairly popular boys name, I know about 3 or 4.

Purplecatshopaholic · 24/12/2021 12:48

Really lovely name op

elp30 · 24/12/2021 12:48

OP, a "Reuben" is indeed a delicious sandwich from North America. It consists of corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing and served with spears of dill pickle.

That's my first thought.

Ruben is a pretty normal name to me. I have two of them in my family. No one calls them "Rue/Roo" though, just Ruben.

Hello606 · 24/12/2021 12:54

Reuben is a lovely name

Kite22 · 24/12/2021 12:55

I wouldn't assume anything, but if forced to put it into a category I would say 'bohemian'.... arty or edging towards lentil weaving.

Xanadu58 · 24/12/2021 12:55

I think it's lovely .

SundayTeatime · 24/12/2021 13:00

What artist?
DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 24/12/2021 13:09

Could someone make me one of those delicious sounding sandwiches…..

NameChangeCity123 · 24/12/2021 13:11

This was my initial thought exactly! Also never realised how many Reubens there are before I started using MN
