That's right, @mishmased, depending on context

The El in names like Elizabeth, Gabriel, Samuel, Joel, Daniel, Elijah etc means God

givemepiece · 28/12/2021 17:01

Braelynn, I really love this name and I think it’s very pretty and underused, I prefer spelling it Braelynn over Braelyn (nn brae)

There's a reason it's underused GrinGrin

mathanxiety · 28/12/2021 18:08

Braelynn is not only dated, it was only used by what Australians call 'bogans'.

mathanxiety · 28/12/2021 18:09

Delilah isn't dated.

Princessbelle7 · 28/12/2021 18:13

Is Piper dated?

I like Ava, Amelia and Brooke from your list. Not keen on the others.

mathanxiety · 28/12/2021 18:18

It's the name of Sarah Palin's 20 year old daughter. So yes, it's dated.

Most of your American names were popular between 15/20 and 35 years ago.

MadameFantabulosa · 28/12/2021 18:21

Braelynn sounds like the noise a donkey makes.

Adelin is a boy’s name where I live.

anothersquintyposter · 28/12/2021 18:35

Claire is my favourite on your list

mathanxiety · 28/12/2021 18:38

If you're looking for contemporary American-style names, try -

Harper
Avery
Paisley
Finley
Everly
Brooklyn
Aubrey
Kinsley
Savannah
Kennedy
Lennon
Kenzie
Brynley
Carrington
Remington
Kensington
Reese
Ember
Teagan
Quinn
Hadley
Addison
Skyler
Emberley
McKinley

Names ending in -lyn or -lynn or with a -yn ending instead of -on are dated. The exception is Brooklyn because that's the name of a place.

I always lived Blair but I tried to avoid the Americanised names

Pineapples9087 · 28/12/2021 23:23

I love Alyssa, but I am biased as I have a 2 year old dd named Alyssa! People are constantly spelling and pronouncing it wrong though which used to really bug me but now I'm used to it. (I knew an Alyssa growing up so I never realised how often people would struggle with the name tbh).

FridayImInLove1 · 29/12/2021 01:18

Delilah! As long as u don't mind shortening to lilah or similar when needed.

We have decided on Braelynn. Her middle name will be Alyssa or Avery. I can’t wait to meet her 😁

I would use Alyssa as a middle name. It's nicer and Brae Avery sounds like Bravery.

Poor kid.
