I heard this boys name today and think it’s nice, has anyone heard of it before or is it a made up name?

It’s a surname but if you like it go with it!

astoundedgoat · 20/12/2021 14:10

Sounds Dutch maybe? It's not Anglophone.

astoundedgoat · 20/12/2021 14:12

Oh - there was an actor and it had some popularity in the 70's.

toastofthetown · 20/12/2021 14:32

Read it as Arson at first glance.

Liverbird77 · 20/12/2021 14:44

One of my friends has a son called Anson.
There was also Anson Williams, one of the actors in Happy Days.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/12/2021 14:46

It's the name of a local rough as fuck pub so for that reason I'm out.

itwasntaparty · 20/12/2021 14:46

I work with one, I think it's lovely and unusual.

KirstenBlest · 20/12/2021 17:35

Looks like Arson

RedCandyApple · 20/12/2021 17:36

I saw arson as well sorry

meditrina · 20/12/2021 17:48

I see it as a girls name, because of Anson Chan

So long as you're not called Ann(e) ...

blitzen · 20/12/2021 18:00

I'm with @CeeCeeBloomingdale on this one

I was going to say that, maybe be live in the same place
Icecreaminwinter · 20/12/2021 18:03

Not keen. It sounds like an ‘h’ is missing.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/12/2021 18:14

@coconuthead I don’t live there but only a few miles away. North Tyneside?

RunningInTheWind · 20/12/2021 18:15

Depends whether you’re from ‘arlow or not…

Luredbyapomegranate · 20/12/2021 18:17

It does sound a bit like Hanson pronounced by someone who drops their H.

What about Aiden or Aaron?

Fetchthevet · 20/12/2021 18:42

Also saw it as Arson at first. I don't like it anyway.

Cindie943811A · 20/12/2021 20:15

Genuine name and I don’t find it offensive as it has no negative associations for me

floatinginmyhomie · 20/12/2021 20:18

I like it

Looks like Arson. And that’s how I first read it.
He would be called Arse or Arson so please don’t do it
