Robin for a boy. Randomly thought of it.

I saw it and thought it was really cute but I NEVER see anyone mention it or see it on any name lists. Opinions?

Other faves are Reuben, Henry, Freddie.

I know a one year old Robin. I wasn't sure at first but it's really grown on me.

If it were for a girl I like it spelled Robyn.

Blossomtoes · 19/12/2021 11:14

My bloke’s called Robin. It suits him down to the ground. It’s a lovely name.

Roselilly36 · 19/12/2021 11:15

I love Robin lovely name, I also like Robyn for a girl.

Lbnc2021 · 19/12/2021 11:17

I had a boyfriend when I was a teenager called Robin and he was lovely.

spinachpie · 19/12/2021 11:20

I work with a Robin and he's a really nice guy. Also easily abbreviated to Rob / Robbie if that's what he wants when he's older.

yellowjellytot · 19/12/2021 11:23

Love it.

When we named our son Robin 6/7 years ago, it was not popular on MN. Often being decribed as wet. In the last year or so I'd say it's starting to be more popular (along with other R names like Roman, Rowan, Rory...etc) so I suspect it's going on an upward trend (unlike my other 2 childrens' names, which are on a downward trend). Obviously I love it. He makes people call him his full name, so he likes it too.

Only if you're a Bristol City fan

Tbh I think it's quite bland tho

sqirrelfriends · 19/12/2021 18:30

I love all those names.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 19/12/2021 19:08

I don't like it at all

EventOfTheSeason · 19/12/2021 19:34

I've got a cousin called Robin, it's just a really nice name.

Imagineit · 19/12/2021 19:44

I love it. My boy was almost Robin, I think it was Mumsnet that put me off but I've since learned that when it comes to names, unless it's offensive, you should just go with your own choice and not be swayed by others as there'll always be lovers and haters.

Cotswoldmama · 19/12/2021 19:47

I have a Reuben so love it. I really like Robin I only know one young one who is 3 and will only answer to Bob! So it might not stay Robin! I like Henry not keen on Freddie.

IgneousRock · 19/12/2021 19:48

I like Robin. I know a 16yo one.

StampOnTheGround · 19/12/2021 19:50

Not for me

Howyoualldoworkme · 19/12/2021 19:50

My 29 year old youngest is Robin. Nicer than Robert I think but is also shortened to Rob Smile

FlamingoDust · 19/12/2021 19:54

Love it for a boy! Never met one I didn't like and suits all ages. (Much less keen on it for a girl though)

scottishnames · 20/12/2021 19:01

Robert is one of the very few ageless/classness names around at the moment. I really like it.
Shorten it to Robin if you must, but I think the original Robert is much nicer/stronger. and more versatile, if you want nicknames.

scottishnames · 20/12/2021 19:02

I also don't mind Roberta. I know two. Both extremely accomplished/ intelligent/high achieving and very decent people

Cindie943811A · 20/12/2021 20:19

Great name. I prefer it to Robert. The Robins I have known have been pleasant outgoing types whereas theRoberts have been more conservative and less interesting
