Any last minute guesses as to what they will call her?

RIC " Rickyyy". If I was an aunty I'd be going for that as a nickname.😂

LadyEloise1 · 16/12/2021 13:50

I love the name Romy but it's kinda spoiled for me now.

Jacaranda75 · 16/12/2021 13:53

A very surprising choice! Nice name, though. Has anybody heard it before? Is it a person from literature?

It's quite a popular name nowadays.

I assume Iris is a reference to Carrie's previous miscarriage, as it means "rainbow".

FragrantVagrant · 16/12/2021 13:59

I know a couple with a Romy. It's a nice name but I bet they're groaning to hear this!

Classica · 16/12/2021 13:59

My friend had a Romy a few months ago. I suspect she won't be thrilled at this Grin

HaplessHetty · 16/12/2021 14:03

Reminds me of this film.

SomethingBeginningWithX · 16/12/2021 14:06

That's so weird, I emailed a company about something last night asking a question about a product (dim sum). I had a reply today from someone called Romy and thought 'thats such an unusual name, wonder where that's come from'. I'm assuming the PMs baby does not have a job in communications at a dim sum company but you never know 🤔

TheHolyPotato · 16/12/2021 14:08

It can be a shortening of Rosemary.

TheHOHOHOnlyMrsM · 16/12/2021 14:32

Romy Johnson - named after her father, who we all know is 'a bit of a roamer'?

Lovely names though and I wish this innocent, blameless baby the very best of luck in her life. History unfortunately tells us that she is probably going to need it.

Dollywilde · 16/12/2021 15:19

@SomethingBeginningWithX well there's a mental image that will stay with me all day Grin

Interesting choice, nice name though. I didn't think Romy and Wilfred went very well together personally, but I know the baby names board can get a bit obsessed about sibset combos!

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/12/2021 15:40

The rainbow is associated with the NHS too. Can't stand Boris but those are nice names they've given her.

AdriannaP · 16/12/2021 16:24

Apparently
Romy: after Carrie’s aunt Rosemary
iris: rainbow (rainbow baby after her miscarriage)
Charlotte: Boris mum who died this year

I like Romy, reminds me of Romy Schneider too. Didn’t expect that, don’t think Romy is very posh.

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 16/12/2021 16:26

Are people just assuming the iris - miscarriage thing?

Onlinedilema · 16/12/2021 19:03

How do you pronounce Romy?
Is it Rom-ee
Or Rome-ee?

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/12/2021 19:05

Row-me is how I'd pronounce it

PlanktonsComputerWife · 16/12/2021 19:11

It's Rome-y in the minor classic "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion."
