Lara, Francesca or Iona

We have a little girl due in a couple of months. We’ve managed to get our shortlist down to three: Lara, Francesca (known as Frankie, or possibly Cesca) and Iona. She’ll be a sister for Xander. I love Phoebe but sadly my husband can’t get on board.

Which is your favourite? Thank you in advance!

Iona is very underused!!
Francesca is very overused!!
Lara is a bit wet!!
Iona and Xander are great together!!

They are all a little nauseating tbh

I like Phoebe

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 06/12/2021 12:26

Permanentlockdown, I find you nauseating.

The op asked which was your favourite, not for your opinion 🙄. If you don’t like her choices, don’t comment. It’s really quite simple.

Tbh, Phoebe just sounds like a noise.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 06/12/2021 12:26

Op, I think Lara and Francesca and both lovely.

weegiemum · 06/12/2021 12:27

I love Iona.

Lockdownbear · 06/12/2021 12:29

Francesca gives lots of options, Lara is a good one too.
You might also like Laura not heard of a baby Laura in years.

@ChittyChittyBoomBoom
OK Lara

Hummingbirdcake · 06/12/2021 12:30

Lara or Francesca.

Kanaloa · 06/12/2021 12:31

Lara is lovely, Francesca is nice as well! I’m not that keen on Iona.

Sprig1 · 06/12/2021 12:32

I love Lara, it's a good strong name. I one is nice too but doesn't roll off the tongue as well. I am not keen on Francesca, there are loads around here and I don't like any of the nicknames she would be likely to end up with either.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/12/2021 12:34

I think they're all nice; I think it depends on which goes best with your surname. There are some surnames which wouldn't work well with Iona. (E.g. Iona Bell could be a setup for endless knock knock jokes unfortunately)

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 06/12/2021 12:35

Iona
Lara
Francesca

My only caveat with Iona is don’t use it if your surname is a noun. “I own a Catt” for example.

CasparsWineBar · 06/12/2021 12:36

Lara is my favourite of those

emmathedilemma · 06/12/2021 12:40

Iona, i don't like the other two at all.

SnowdropFox · 06/12/2021 12:42

Lara

Skysblue · 06/12/2021 12:45

Lara

Skysblue · 06/12/2021 12:45

I think Iona would cause pronunciation issues / jokes about i own er

Neolara · 06/12/2021 12:46

Lara..

KirstenBlest · 06/12/2021 12:48

Not keen on Francesca - too long and I'm not keen on Frankie or Cesca

Lara is fine but L names like Lyra, Luna, Lola, Lily, Lila etc are popular

Iona is underused and lovely but be careful with how it sound with the surname.

Lara
Iona
Francesca

Lara or Francesca. Speaking as somebody who had to embroider her name on her hat for home economics in the dark ages of boiled vegetables, I'd go for Lara. So much easier for her to learn to write and recognise her name.

hoomama · 06/12/2021 13:18

LOVE Iona.

Wish I'd tho
