Puritan style names/virtue names

Some of them are awful and some of them gorgeous and underused.

I love Faith, Joy, Honor, Mercy (which I saw posted about on here recently - which went down very badly) and Hope.

What's your favorite virtue name? (Of all of them, not just the ones I like!)

I quite like Verity, I think because it isn't twit a word any more. I also think Joy is lovely

2 of the names you have suggested are my daughter's middle names! As Carrotte said Grace is lovely. I know a 4 year old Mercy, think it's a lovely name! Personally am not mad on Comfort and Patience.

I LOVE Temperance and I would have called DD that but she's adopted so I didn't choose her name.

I think Joy is a lovely name, so is Grace. I also like Patience. I can’t think of any more off the top of my head! Do names like Felicity count or not really? I like Felicity.

I love looking through the old list of puritan names, some of them are insane and amazing just to see. You have stuff like Penitence, and even weirder names like Praise-God or Fight-the-good-fight. Mad!

I like Constance

I love Honor. It’s the name that got away for me.
Hope is lovely too.

Grace and Verity

Also love Temperance! Not brave enough to use it but it’s always been one of my favourites.

Don't know why Mercy would have been slated. Everyone I've ever met has been lovely.

I love Faith, Hope and Joy. Not keen on any of the others.

Harmony is nice

Verity, Honor, Prudence, Faith. All good.

Clemency.

Clemency is lovely abs very underused. Well it is around here anyway

I've just googled, I didn't realise how many there are! I love Constance and Hope is nice. My son is friends with a Blaze (which I've just discovered to be a virtue name). It really suits him.

On that basis alone I don’t like them, sorry.

When boys start to be called Patience and Verity, I’ll change my mind happily. 😂

I love Blessing. I'd never use jt but I've taught two Blessings and love it.
