Bagels

DS announced last night that one of the other boys in his preschool class is called Bagels.

Off topic for this board a bit, but it's driving me nuts! What could this boy be called?

I suggested Benjamin and Jayden to DS who laughed and said, "silly Mummy, it's BAGELS"

???? any guesses?

In this day and age it really wouldn't surprise me if it WAS actually Bagels.

I don't know but I really need you to find out and tell us, otherwise I'm going to be wondering forever.

Jamal?

There might be a name Baigal or Behgal, or something like that? Maybe South Asian. Just guessing.

Scirocco · 26/11/2021 11:01

Could be a name like Baisal or Baighal? There are quite a few South Asian, Eastern European, etc names that I could see a child from a different culture interpreting as Bagel/Bagels.

Or maybe the child's parents just really like bagels.

Is he maybe Bailey? I’ve looked after Baileys who are sometimes called Bails?

Santaischeckinglists · 26/11/2021 11:08

Better than Krispy or Jammy.

Probably not S Asian as we live in a VERY white area although possible!
Reminds me of when older DD insisted there was a boy at nursery called Ribbit which turned out to be a girl called Bridget.

DD had teachers called Jelly and Bicki. Grin

In Ulster accent the name Michael is Maykel. Add a stuffy nose and there you go - Bagel!

HanSB · 26/11/2021 13:41

Ask one of the teachers! My daughter had a friend in nursery called she called Pergita but was actually Regina. Children mispronounce things all the time!

TurnUpTurnip · 26/11/2021 14:04

Probably just mispronunciation my daughter tells me her teacher is called miss parrot 🦜 it’s not it’s miss Barrett

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 26/11/2021 14:07

I taught a girl whose name was Lasagne (different spelling but some pronunciation). Bagels wouldn’t surprise me at all. Grin

SW1amp · 26/11/2021 14:09

DS was adamant his nursery teacher was Miss Panda

Step forward… miss Amanda

TurnUpTurnip · 26/11/2021 15:39

Just been reminded of this thread because my son was telling his sister what his teachers name is (miss McAlpine) and she said “what miss cow pie?!” so there you go 😂

Santaischeckinglists · 26/11/2021 15:41

Ds's teacher had a dd called Iris. Definitely Virus according to ds...

Say your DS is wanting to write Christmas cards for everyone in the class so could you have a class name list !
