Surely Bryn is a boy's name?

I quite like Alex / Alexandra - not come across Alexandria. I wold worry that people would be inclined to mis-spell it.

Arthur isn't particularly one I like but it does fit with so many of the "old fashioned" names that have become popular over the last 5 years or so.

Luredbyapomegranate · 24/11/2021 23:34

Sebastian and Raphael are great
Leonardo is quite a lot but Leo and Leon work well to shorten
Arthur is lovely but way overused.
Pascal a bit odd if not French.
Cody - No! it's just.. nothing-y

Alexandra is nice - don't like the rest - Alanis just makes me think of the singer, Bryn sounds made up like Cody, and Celeste and Angelique are very fussy.

Lois, Bronwen, Estella, Marianne might be alternatives.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 25/11/2021 00:24

Agree with pp that where I am (Wales) Bryn is used only for boys, but it may be different in other countries.

I love Alexandria (after the ancient city, like Lydia is right?) - it would be a lovely sibset pairing with Sebastian (which also derives from an ancient place name). I also like Raphael and Arthur (although the latter is incredibly popular here at the moment), but your other choices aren't my taste, sorry.

Spidey66 · 25/11/2021 00:28

Bryn is a boys (Welsh) name. Like uncle Bryn in Gavin and Stacey.

BubbleCoffee · 25/11/2021 00:40

I like Raphael and Leonardo (Raffi and Leo for short). Also like Celeste. Prefer Alana/Alannah to Alanis which sounds masculine to me (despite Alanis Morissette).

Shasha17 · 25/11/2021 05:40

Raphael/Rafael - Lovely
Pascal - dislike
Arthur - like but too popular
Cody - no yuck
Leonardo - it's ok
Sebastian - lovely

Girls

Alanis - no, seems dated
Alexandria - no, but Alexandra is nice
Bryn - no, it's a boy's name
Angelique - no, but Angelica and Evangeline are sweet
Celeste - lovely

WakeUpLockie · 25/11/2021 06:14

I knew sisters Raphaelle and Pascale so maybe could be added to your list :)

Boys:
Raphael - ok but not keen in ‘raff’ type diminutives
Pascal - cool
Arthur - everywhere and dull
Cody - nice enough, very different to your other choices!
Leonardo - nice
Sebastian - nice

Girls
Alanis - no
Alexandria - prefer Alexandra, less frilly
Bryn - love but not this spelling
Angelique - ok
Celeste - love!

toastofthetown · 25/11/2021 07:18

Raphael/Rafael - really like it
Pascal - nice sound but a bit of a middle aged name
Arthur - nice, just so popular
Cody - feels very 90s to me
Leonardo - probably would end up as yet another Leo
Sebastian - nice but popular.

Alanis - Morisette was my first thought. It’s an ok name outside of that though
Alexandria - it’s fine, probably would end up as Alex
Bryn - boys name
Angelique - I prefer Angelica. The -ique ending isn’t my favourite in general though
Celeste - pretty, my favourite of your girls names

APoll16 · 25/11/2021 08:05

Of your boys names I really like Raphael, Arthur and Sebastian (don’t dislike the others but just not my style!)

Girls names, I like Alanis & Celeste 😃

KirstenBlest · 25/11/2021 10:19

Raphael/Rafael - riff raff
Pascal - bit too different
Arthur - very popular but ok
Cody - no
Leonardo - too long and will just be another Leo
Sebastian - don't like it but it's popular

Girls

Alanis - ok
Alexandria - ok
Bryn - boy's name
Angelique - no
Celeste - not keen

AuntieStella · 25/11/2021 10:38

Raphael/Rafael - lovely
Pascal - I would assume a very Christian family
Arthur - like
Cody - dislike
Leonardo - OK, but a bit too frilly for me
Sebastian - like

Alanis - don't like
Alexandria - like
Bryn - boy's name
Angelique - too frilly
Celeste - don't like (because of the Marie Celeste, always seems like a 'lost souls' name)

TheSpiral · 25/11/2021 10:43

Sebastian - love it and would have considered it for DS if DH hadn’t been set against it
Raphael - love it
Arthur - like
Cody -like, but think it has a very different vibe from all your other choices
Pascal and Leonardo - don’t hate, but not my thing - also, I know there’s Leonardo de Caprio and of course da VincI, but to me it’s always a turtle.

Personally I am not as keen on your girls names as your boys names, doesn’t mean they are bad, just not my taste. I think Alexandria would be the only one I really like there. But that’s just my own taste!

vitta · 25/11/2021 10:48

Raphael/Rafael - lovely
Pascal - nice, not so common
Arthur - nice but very popular
Cody - bit down-market
Leonardo - prefer Leonard
Sebastian - lovely

Girls

Alanis - nice
Alexandria - seems a bit try hard, why not just Alexandra
Bryn - sounds male to me?
Angelique - love!
Celeste - lovely

Synchrony · 25/11/2021 10:54

I love Angelique!
I like the others except for Pascal and Bryn.

Edenember · 25/11/2021 15:01

Fave from the boys is Raphael, and Celeste from the girls.

Classica · 25/11/2021 15:07

Raphael/Rafael - love
Pascal - not keen. in Ireland it was a popularish name about 50 years ago. But always seems dweeby to me.
Arthur - okay but so so so popular these days
Cody - okay. surname as a first name thing but not the worst
Leonardo - bit much unless you're Italian
Sebastian - nice

Girls

Alanis - just associate it with Ms Morrisette
Alexandria - nice
Bryn - boys' name. reminds me of the opera singer Bryn Terfel
Angelique - bit frilly
Celeste - really lovely

RupertOscar1999 · 27/11/2021 13:42

I like Arthur, Cody and Rafael. I know a little boy named Raphael and gets called Ralph.
For the girls names I like Alexandria. You can use Alex or Andrea as nn.

NuffSaidSam · 27/11/2021 13:46

Raphael/Rafael - fine
Pascal - not to my taste
Arthur - fine, bit 'of the time'
Cody - quite like it
Leonardo - it's just Teenage Mutant Turtle to me
Sebastian - lovely

Alanis - not to my taste
Alexandria - prefer Alexandra, bit too much of a mouthful
Bryn - is a boy's name and makes me think of Uncle Bryn from Gavin and Stacey
Angelique - too fussy/ princessy
Celeste - nice

17caterpillars1mouse · 27/11/2021 21:06

Raphael/Rafael - I really like it NN Rafi. I just couldn't picture it on my own child if you know what I mean

Pascal - not a fan sorry
Arthur - lovely
Cody - I like it
Leonardo - Leo yes, Leonardo no
Sebastian - nice enough

Alanis - it's ok

Alexandria - ok I prefer Alexandra or Alessandra or even Alexandrina

Bryn - I prefer for a boy

Angelique - no
Celeste - it's ok

I'm not feeling your girls names sorry

RestingStitchFace · 28/11/2021 10:52

Do you have any French/Italian heritage, OP? Personally, it feels odd to be opting for such continental names if you don't...

Bryn is definitely a boys name. I'm not even convinced it is unisex.

Alexandra is a lovely name in it's own right. Alexandria feels a bit of an unnecessary amendment.

Personally my favs are Arthur and Alexandra
