We have two girls named Sienna and Valentina and have found out we are expecting a boy.

We don't have Italian heritage but we love the names we have.

I find boys names really difficult.

We like Roman but the 'n' syllable doesn't flow with our surname.

We like Romeo and Luca but haven't found any names we love.

Ideas welcome!

Do you get a lot of 'oh, do you have an Italian background?' questions when people learn your kids' names?

Gianni or Giovanni the Italian for John or Johnny meaning God is Gracious.

Saverio with nickname Rio

I think since your girls both end with a "na" , it might be nice if your 2nd DS ended in "o" too like Rocco (but was a different number of syllables so it didn't sound too samey). I like Elio, Matteo, Vincenzo, Lorenzo, Alessandro and Antonio for example.

I would choose Luca. It goes well with your other kids’ names and it’s a nice name.

I think some of the names like Giuseppe etc would have him being asked his whole life about whether he is Italian. I'd go for a crossover name like Rocco, Luca etc that are quite common in UK.

Cruz.

BelliniButterfly · 21/11/2021 21:12

@RAFHercules thank you I really like the name Cruz and it goes well with our surname so could be a great contender alongside Romeo.

@BelliniButterfly I thought Cruz is more Spanish or south American ? It's nice.

RAFHercules · 21/11/2021 23:18

Yes, Cruz is Spanish/Portuguese , rather than Italian.
But I think they go together well as they are both traditional Catholic saints names. St Rocco and St John of the Cross (Cruz).
They are both quite cool as well.
