Olivia- nickname

Due our DD next month. We have agreed on Olivia mainly because it’s the only girls name my husband likes at all! I like it but the popularity puts me off a bit. Can anyone think of a more unusual nickname than ‘Liv’ that might make me feel it has a bit more of a…shine? I was thinking maybe Oli but open to other ideas.

I teach primary and we have at least one, if not 2/ 3 Olivias in each year group. Most that use nicknames opt for Livvy. I have a friend who shortens her daughter's name to Oli, but to me that is a boys name - never heard a girl go by Oli before then.

I have never pre thought nick names, I always thought they were something that just happens naturally?!

I want a nickname as Olivia is ranked number 1 in the charts. Chances are there will be another in her nursery/school and therefore I want to give her a nickname alternative other than Liv. We have discussed it and we are going with Oli. Thanks all.

And how many boys in her class called Oliver but nicknamed Oli do you think there will be?!

Honestly, it’s 6 letters long. It doesn’t need shortening. Call her Olivia.

I know an Olivia in her 30s whose nickname is Lia (pronounced Leah).

I have an Olivia. There aren’t too many here at similar ages so we’ve never had to worry about shortening it. Her brother calls her Liv and a friend calls her Livvy. She prefers to be called Olivia by most people though.
