Baby boy names - help!

I’m only 8 wks pregnant but after reading a baby name book, we’ve realised we can’t agree on a boy’s name ( I know we’ve got plenty of time!)
Our surname is Valentine.

For a girl, we both like Clara Florence.

Boy’s middle name will be Michael.
Don’t want this as first name though as I hate Mick and Mike!

I like Noah, Rowan & Alexander - DH not keen

DH likes Sam(uel), Max & Ben(jamin) but I’m not keen.

We can’t have: James, Jack, Matthew, Daniel, Jude, Leo or Oscar as family names.

Any help appreciated!

Thanks, not panicking too much yet! I don’t mind William, not keen on Edward DH vetoed Nathan/Nathanial

Peter is a definite no- DH is French and it means ‘to fart’

We liked Clara for a girl too - for a boy we liked Quentin and Alexander.

How about Owen? Similar sound to Noah and Rowan but a bit more classic like your DH seems to want. Also a nice name that's underused at the moment.

The baby could come earlier though I’m a doctor and this has happened with a lot of patients. You never know.

I like both you and DHs name you seem to like quite classic names. Rowan is my daughters name so it's a girl name to me. Would warn you that it gets automatically shortened to Row even when I ask people not to so depends if you like that?(I don't). Also RoMan with an M has been the fastest rising boy name past few years, rising over 650 places to be in the top 30 official names in 2020. By the time the official 2021 statistics come out it could be top 15. So be prepared for everyone to get RoWan and RoMan confused. It really upsets me and I regret her name but too late now.

Could you look at French names, if your DH is French? You might find something a bit different, that you'd both like. Louis?

We did discuss it, however, we didn’t really agree on any that would work in both countries. I liked Rémi but would be horribly pronounced where we live in the Midlands!

I think Robert works great in French.

Definitely not Robert (horrible uncle’s name!) or uber French names when we live nr Wolverhampton!

As your DH is French, you'll need something that works in both languages. All his suggestions do. Of your suggestions, Noah and Alexander (Alexandre) would work. Rowan wouldn't.

Joseph is a good suggestion, classic and works well in both languages.

I wouldn't use anything with th, or names beginning with H, personally, as I don't like the different pronunciations.
