I hate name threads because the OP never comes back and updates with what they have chosen or even what they like!

You don't happen to have a link to that thread, do you?

VanillaAndOrange · 20/11/2021 16:50

Tough choice but I think possibly Matthew, which I didn't get to use.

I totally agree with you - it was my (and other pp) "one name" pick too. And I think it says something that of all the names out there which name expert Eleanor of the wonderful "British Baby Names" blog could have picked for her own child- she chose William. Though it is a shame in some ways it's so popular, there must be a good reason for that (after all it's apparently never left the top 50 for as long as they have been recording names - since the 1300's I think!)

my lovely boys are called Joshua, Samuel, Michael, Noah, Isaac & Elijah.

if DD had been a boy then DS6 would've been Levi or Dominic so that's more lovely names

FarrahformerlySwtPea · 21/11/2021 01:09

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba

What beautiful strong Biblical names you chose for your DSs!Flowers

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/11/2021 09:16

@FarrahformerlySwtPea

thank you. that was the idea. they all have Biblical middle names too.
DD is Elizabeth Grace. if I'd had another girl she would've been Gloria Eve

WinterCarlisle · 21/11/2021 12:10

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba 2 of my 3 boys have the same names as yours Smile

FarrahformerlySwtPea · 21/11/2021 16:53

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba @WinterCarlisle

That's very cool to be able to read your DCs Bible stories with their own names in them!
I have 2 DSs
Joseph
James

FarrahformerlySwtPea · 21/11/2021 16:57

I know this is a bit derailing of the thread, but it seems to have stalled any way...
As I was named after 2 people of strong character, I always admired them and wanted to embrace those same character traits and live up to my nameSmile
It helped me when making some life choices

Notdoingthis · 21/11/2021 19:54

Wow there you go, William is the perfect name! I didn't use it for my boy though!

Ha - I didn't say it was "perfect", after all there is the "Willy" thing Sad. But since we are only supposed to be picking the one name out of lots of gorgeous choices... it's strange how few names have stayed consistently very popular and there must be some reason for that (looking at Eleanor's lists from the 1300's, 1400's etc onwards plus the ONS lists we have from 1904 to today, William is one of the very few - I think James, Thomas and maybe Edward might be others? Plus Elizabeth for girls).
