All along I’ve liked two names …

Matilda with nn Mattie or Tilly

Esme with nn Essie

Which do you prefer?

I prefer it anyway, and with Esme half the time she’ll be Es-mee and the rest es-may. And I don’t like Essie.

Matilda! I do like Esme but the ambiguous pronunciation (esmee / esmay) puts me off using it as a first name. Use it as a middle name instead.
