What are everyone's thoughts on the name Felix?

I have a DS1 called Arthur and I just love the way Arthur and Felix sound together

My only reservation is the cat food !!! Does it matter that it's one of the top brands of cat food out there or should I just get over myself and use the name because I love it

Honest opinions please !! :D x

Felix is a cute name but the first thing that pops to my mind is the cat indeed

toastofthetown · 02/11/2021 15:02

Felix is such a popular name (#77 and rising) that the cat association isn't problematic.

Tal45 · 02/11/2021 15:18

Like it and great with Arthur.

FASDE1517 · 02/11/2021 15:23

I love it and it sounds great with Arthur

Blubells · 02/11/2021 15:32

In the UK it's a well known brand of cat 🐈 food!

Orarewedancer · 02/11/2021 15:33

Lovely name. It's rising in popularity so I wouldn't worry about cat food associations!

Greytminds · 02/11/2021 15:35

Love it. I know three boys called Felix - age 11, 2 and born a couple of weeks ago. Would have been my first choice but we have one in close family so not an option.

SpeckledyHen · 02/11/2021 15:42

Love it .

Gingernaut · 02/11/2021 15:47

Like the cat food. Sorry, but it's a no from me.

maofteens · 02/11/2021 15:48

I have a cat (and used to feed it Felix cat food) but that's not what I think of! My dig is called Felix and a classmate of my son's. Nice name.

ditsygal · 02/11/2021 15:52

I have a ds called Felix, he's 9. We still love the name!

That's my thinking too, that its popular enough to triumph over the cat food connotations ....: Where do you live? Are you From the UK

Are you from the UK? Did you find anyone bought up the cat food connotation or is that just my own paranoia , I honestly love the name it's so beautiful yet strong xx

Definitely becoming very popular, I know two 2 year olds. I wouldn't worry about the cat food, it's a lovely name in its own right.

DoodleBelle · 02/11/2021 15:56

I don’t like the name personally but there are plenty of them around! I wouldn’t worry at all about the cat food association.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 02/11/2021 16:01

The problem is that as I'm in my 50s I remember Arthur the cat being used in the 90s advertisements for Kattomeat and then Felix is also a cat food. So together they are a bit too "catty" for me. But it's probably not an association made by younger people.

bloominglovelyorange · 02/11/2021 18:47

I know two little boys called Felix. It's a mainstream name now - not super common but absolutely not unusual. The numbers of people using this name now will mean most people in the UK with kids will know a couple of Felix's. People just think of kids they know with the name not cat foot.

beans1992 · 02/11/2021 19:06

I had the same thoughts but agree it’s now popular enough that I don’t think it’d be an issue really.

Ahh I did see someone mention this on a different thread! It made me laugh , maybe I just like cat names, I am a cat lover after all! I still don't think this will put me off , I'm hoping most people won't know of the Arthur's cat food ! Xx

Kattomeat!

Your 3rd child will be Sheba

Blubells · 03/11/2021 15:37

Felix and Arthur are very catty 🐈‍⬛ together.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 03/11/2021 15:40

My nearly 2 year old is called Felix. I had my worries about the cat food association with it but it's never been mentioned (at least not to my face Grin). We just really liked the name and went with it anyway.

wyemummy · 03/11/2021 16:36

I really like Felix, it was high on my list for DS but vetoed by DH. I have to admit the cat food thing made me hesitant. It’s a classic name though, so if you like it, there are worse associations for a name. I think it’s a good name for boy and man.
