Girls names list

What do you think of the following girls names?

Penelope
Poppy
Imogen
Grace

I also like Felicity, Annabel, Beatrice, Harriet, Verity but DH has vetoed

Middle names we are considering:
Madeleine (love this name but hate nn Maddy)
Jemima (can't use a J name as a first name)
Primrose (current front runner but it doesn't flow well with all names)
Clementine (doesn't flow well with all names)

Which combination is your favourite/why? Any other suggestions we might like?

OP posts:

I like every single one!
Primrose Grace would be my choice.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/10/2021 17:34

Of the first names you both like, I only love Imogen - fairly classic, elegant, Shakespearean and popular but not really overused. Grace's are just everywhere (whether as a first name or as a hyphenated/middle name), Poppy is too cutesy for me and I personally don't like the strong "pee" sound in Penelope, sorry.

Imogen Jemima would be lovely - I'm not sure the repeated n's in Madeleine and Clementine flow quite as well, and I personally find Primrose a bit stuffy/dowdy sounding (although I don't suppose that matters as much for a middle name).

Shame you can't sell DH on your other first name choices - I like all of them (apart from perhaps Annabel, as I much prefer less frilly Anna). If I was just picking my "favourite names" I'd probably choose Verity Madeleine.

Penelope Madeleine. I don't love Poppy or Grace as first names and I don't love Primrose with Penelope or Poppy. Grace is a bit too popular for me.

DukkaDukka · 31/10/2021 21:33

I like Penelope. Grace is just waaaay overused as a first or middle name. I don’t like Poppy, it’s too cutsey.

bloominglovelyorange · 31/10/2021 22:21

Great list
I like Imogen best

DramaAlpaca · 31/10/2021 22:25

I like Penelope and Imogen very much.

I don't much like Grace but don't mind it as a middle name, Poppy is much too cutesy, and I hate Primrose.

I think I'd go for Penelope Grace or Imogen Madeleine.

PlainJane1000 · 31/10/2021 22:34

Of the first names I would choose Penelope, I prefer Penny as a nn than Immy which is a popular shortening for Imogen, and I dislike the other two name options. For middle names with Penelope I think Clementine or Madeleine.

TeeTotaller1 · 31/10/2021 22:35

Hattie Grace is quite nice

TeeTotaller1 · 31/10/2021 22:35

Or Clemmie Grace

KirstenBlest · 01/11/2021 08:20

Penelope - too long
Poppy - like
Imogen - nice, not keen on Immy
Grace - just OK, don't like it as a middle name

Madeleine (love this name but hate nn Maddy) - my thoughts too
Jemima (can't use a J name as a first name) - really like
Primrose (current front runner but it doesn't flow well with all names) - not keen
Clementine (doesn't flow well with all names) - don' like

I'd pick Harriet as a first name, but from your list Poppy.

Middle name would be Madeleine

Cantstopthewaves · 01/11/2021 08:24

Madeleine Grace would be my pick.
If you don't want Madeleine as a first name how about Grace Madeleine?
Also like Annabel Grace.

HR313 · 01/11/2021 12:20

Imogen is the best Smile but I’m biased as it’s my eldest daughters name, she’s 4.5 yrs.

itsraininghere · 01/11/2021 12:31

Penelope Grace nn Nell

lovely!

Edenember · 03/11/2021 22:54

Imogen Primrose

PricklesTheHedgehog · 03/11/2021 23:16

Penelope - yes, lovely
Poppy - no, too twee
Imogen - yes, beautiful
Grace - yes, I like it a lot

How about Penelope Grace or Imogen Grace?

I also like Madeline - as it would be a middle name, it wouldn't get shortened.

Joytti · 03/11/2021 23:57

Imogen

It’s nice and just uncommon enough- your other names are top 50 names with Grace in particular I find being very common
