No, don't be ridiculous.

Would you call a child Halloween? or Harvest?

GoodnightGrandma · 29/10/2021 17:54

No

Changethetoner · 29/10/2021 17:55

lol.

WakeUpLockie · 29/10/2021 17:55

No

PeskyRooks · 29/10/2021 17:55

I used to ride a lovely pony called Harvest though!

TwinklyBranch · 29/10/2021 17:57

For a black cat maybe. Not for a human child.

DotDotDotDotDot · 29/10/2021 17:57

To be honest any thread that starts “is this name usable?”, the answer is almost always no!

eddiemairswife · 29/10/2021 17:58

Perhaps it is Mr and Mrs Hain who want to call their son Samuel.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 29/10/2021 17:58

I'm pagan and no. Nobody would ever be able to pronounce it properly. My black cat is called Eve. Short for All Hallows Eve.

Kite22 · 29/10/2021 17:58

What DotDotDotDotDot said

LittleBearPad · 29/10/2021 17:59

No. Everyone will assume a space has been missed out and get very confused he appears to have two surnames

Forumsforfun · 29/10/2021 18:05

I'm disappointed by the response as I thought it would be on the same level as valentine

OP posts:
DaisyWaldron · 29/10/2021 18:08

No. Apart from anything else, they'd be in for a lifetime of correcting everyone who pronounced it samhane.

DaisyWaldron · 29/10/2021 18:13

But Valentine is the name of the Saint. If you wanted a Valentine's equivalent, you could go with Allan, like the Cornish Allantide.

tiggerwhocamefortea · 29/10/2021 18:19

It sounds like you are trying to say salmon but have a speech impediment of some kind

Garman · 29/10/2021 18:23

It's nothing like Valentine. Apart from anything else most non Irish would pronounce it Sam Hain, but even without that it's not a suitable name.

hollyhocksarenotmessy · 29/10/2021 18:28

Valentine is a real name, and Valentine's day is named for Saint Valentine. Not the same at all.

Your suggestion is not a name, nor a noun that converts into a good name, imo. Same as calling a baby Halloween.

hollyhocksarenotmessy · 29/10/2021 18:31

Do you know how it's meant to be pronounced? Another reason it's not a good name. Most people will get it wrong, and it's not a nice sound if they get it right.

It is. That's horrific too.

😂

No, it isn't.

PeterIsACockwomble · 29/10/2021 18:34

Oi, @girlmom21 You leave Valentines alone!

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 29/10/2021 18:34

It's a tricky one to pronounce and even Gaelic speakers vary it slightly. I think it depends very much where you are @Forumsforfun if you're in Ireland/Scotland you might be ok but anywhere else and they'll be Sam Haining all over the place!Grin

girlmom21 · 29/10/2021 18:34

Sorry @PeterIsACockwomble Grin
