I know several Eric's of varying ages. Some are Eric, some are Erik. I like both, but definitely do not like Erick.

PanicBuyingSprouts · 28/10/2021 16:18

I like a and b as well but not c, not sure why. A fits in with the current scandi vibe Smile

AuntDympna · 28/10/2021 16:19

What's your first language? Use the spelling that best reflects your family background. Nice name.

IHateWasps · 28/10/2021 16:31

Erik for sure.

KirstenBlest · 28/10/2021 17:08

Eric or Erik are ok

Eriq or Erick not ok

MrsFin · 28/10/2021 17:16

Eric is more usual I think.
Erik looks Scandinavian.

toastofthetown · 28/10/2021 17:18

If you are in England and Wales Eric is the most popular spelling so in absence of any other reason I’d choose that.

SummaLuvin · 28/10/2021 17:18

Eric - my preferred spelling, looks nicest to me and this is how I would automatically write it. I think most in UK would gravitate towards this too, so if you want to minimise correcting people choose this one.

Erik - more Scandinavian/German, doesn't look as good to my eyes, but that is purely personal opinion and it is a standard spelling.

Erick - I'm not familiar with this spelling, it looks wrong/made up to me, however, that could well be my ignorance showing.

I don't know any Erics, regardless of spelling.

Cantstopthewaves · 28/10/2021 17:21

Eric

GoodnightGrandma · 28/10/2021 17:22

Eric.

PuttingTheLaughterInSlaughter · 28/10/2021 17:57

I have an Erik, we chose this spelling as to me it looks stronger, although I couldn't really articulate why.

PlainJane1000 · 28/10/2021 20:55

I know 3 all spt Eric. I would assume Eric was a British child but Erik had other heritage.
I think Erick looks wrong.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 28/10/2021 21:34

Don't know any young ones personally sorry (although I realise according to the stats it's getting more popular again). But not Erick!

Erik is cool Euro/Viking, Eric is retro/vintage Anglo imo. I prefer the look of Erik, but if you are in the UK I suspect you/he will have to put up with it being misspelt a lot (and Eric will avoid that).

Wowcherarestalkingme · 28/10/2021 21:37

I know one Erik and they are Polish. I like Eric personally

FindingMeno · 28/10/2021 21:39

Erik

ofwarren · 28/10/2021 21:40

Either Eric or Erik.

MaternityNurse007 · 01/01/2022 18:09

Thanks all, i do like both Eric and Erik, i woukd say Erik is more stronger ,,looking" and Euripean in general, but most of you preferred Eric I think. So i am not sure .... i like both 😌

I’m going rogue and saying Eirik (Norwegian spelling).

MaternityNurse007 · 01/01/2022 18:10

Agree, it does look stronger

Buttercup54321 · 01/01/2022 18:16
