Duggar

Hippopotas · 28/10/2021 21:46

Josiah Bartlett from The West Wing would be my first thought. I love it but I’m a West Wing nut

FindingMeno · 28/10/2021 21:46

Love it

emmathedilemma · 28/10/2021 21:53

It’s very religious to me and a bit “frilly”.

Tempusfudgeit · 28/10/2021 21:57

Let Bartlet be Bartlet.

Blurp · 28/10/2021 21:58

Love it. I'd have loved to call DS either Josiah or Jonas, but neither went well with our surname 😟

DramaAlpaca · 28/10/2021 21:58

Too religious for me.

WeasilyPleased · 28/10/2021 22:16

I really love this type of name and Josiah is a cracker. (Not religious)

Orphlids · 28/10/2021 22:29

I’ve always loved it, and once hoped to use it. I am atheist, so wouldn’t assume the parents of a Josiah were religious, but I guess I’d be prepared for that possibility. Josiah is just the most beautiful biblical name going - such a gentle sound. I really can’t understand why it’s not more commonly used. Joss is a fabulous nn.

theresanooselooseaboutmyhoose · 28/10/2021 22:42

Too Duggar and religious- or maybe that's your thing.

Philandbill · 28/10/2021 22:44

Love it. I also think Josiah Bartlett from The West Wing and nn Jed.

LetHimHaveIt · 28/10/2021 23:19

I don't hate it, but it has strong whittling vibes.

ladycarlotta · 29/10/2021 12:28

I think it's lovely. I know one little Josiah who is wonderful. As for the Duggar connection that's going to fade (even further) into irrelevance by the time this kid is old enough to go to school. If the name was more of a Jinger I might see more of an issue.

Although, Josiah Duggar goes by 'Siah which I think is a nice nickname too.

JosiahJosiahKate · 29/10/2021 12:31

I reeeeally like it 😂

WakeUpLockie · 29/10/2021 18:09

I have a Jos but he’s not a Josiah ;) look up Buttler and Whedon if you want a Jos. But as you asked about Josiah - love it but would assume religious!

SendARavenToRiverRun · 29/10/2021 18:25

Love love love it.

DuchessOfPaddington · 29/10/2021 18:35

Checking the name change carefully as this is so outing: DS is a Josiah who goes by Jed. I love love love it.

Josiahparent · 29/10/2021 20:40

DS1 is Josiah - it was pretty much the only name DH and I could agree on!
I admit that we didn't realise that it might be perceived as out there or because of our religious beliefs (actually nonexistent).
DS2 is Theodore so at the other end of the popularity scale!

He likes to be called Josiah in full though presumably this will change as he gets older.

TatianaBis · 30/10/2021 13:12

Like it.

Grumpyosaurus · 30/10/2021 13:19

I knew a Josiah. Very kind and generous man.

Lovely name IMO.

BFFfffff · 31/10/2021 08:19

@Josiahparent that's lovely! I think they are beautiful together. Do you get compliments on his name? I can't imagine he knows of another either which is always lovely

@BFFfffff oh thank you!
Tbh it's more "Did you say Joshua? Oh, Josiah, that's unusual" Grin
But he likes being one of a kind!

BFFfffff · 01/11/2021 15:04

@Josiahparent well I like unusual! Do you say with Z emphasis or S?

Yes - I mentioned this on the other Josiah thread but I have been really surprised at how many people (usually harried medical professionals) glance at his name without reading it properly, see the letters J - O - S - H and assume that his name is Joshua.
